Position Summary:
We are looking for a Senior Simulation Engineer to join our New Product Development team. You will use computational tools to advance our understanding of the mechanical behavior of our products and systems. This role will provide mechanical simulation of industrial electronics modules and systems to support existing products, new product development, and research and development projects. These products include Programmable Logic Controllers, I/O Products, Communication and HMI devices. The environment fosters a collaborative and innovative approach to work with teams across the globe. It is dynamic and requires a highly motivated individual with a passion for product development. In this role, you will have the opportunity to develop technically and take on increased scope and responsibility.
Essential Functions:
- Provide structural static, transient, and harmonic analysis to understand, verify, and optimize design problems of varying scales, from printed circuit board, to module, to systems of modules.
- Work with design engineers to understand technical challenges and create a plan for how simulation can accelerate design knowledge.
- Identify or develop new computational techniques.
- Provide clearly written technical reports.
- Work closely with development and test engineers in the designing of and consuming data from experiments for model validation.
- Work with teams leading the growth of corporate wide simulation first culture.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or similar technical discipline
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical product development
- Master’s Degree preferred
- Strong engineering and analysis fundamentals
- Fluency in ANSYS
- Experience with vibration problem solving
- Basic understanding of thermal simulation, preferably in ICEPAK
- Experience working with packaged electronics
- Strong oral and written communication skills in English and good presentation skills
- Position may require limited travel (5-10%)
- This position is part of a job family. Experience will be the determining factor for position level and compensation.
