Senior Research Support Specialist

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Medicine (foreign equivalent or higher). Two (2) years of experience in Cancer research activities in Molecular Biology. Experience with animal handling, including surgical skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced Degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in related field. Clinical surgical skills.

Brief Description of Duties:
The Senior Research Support Specialist will provide a more specialized range of complex laboratory and research related tasks. Working under general supervision in support of the projects with Principal Investigator Zhishan Wang, Department of Pathology and Cancer Center, the incumbent will have the ability to conduct experiments and carry out specialized survival surgical procedures independently as well as part of a team with a collaborative approach to problem solving.

Duties:

• With minimal supervision, conduct experiments using advanced skills involving animal handling.
• Observe, collect and analyze data and write summary reports as necessary.
• Based on collected data, prepare reports and contribute to drafts and/or manuscripts for publication.
• May be asked to provide training to students and lab staff on lab management, lab skill and animal handling.
• Other duties as assigned.

The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.
