Liberty Mutual Insurance has an excellent claims opportunity available as an Inside Senior Property Adjuster I within our Property, Shared and Layered-Excess Quota Share claims Team.
As a member of the Claims team, you will help people resolve problems and live safer more secure lives. You will get the opportunity to use your investigative and negotiation skills in a fast-paced environment while protecting the assets of the company.
In this role you will investigate commercial property claims, evaluate damages, determine coverage, set accurate loss cost estimates, control the insured's exposures and losses, manage consultants, and achieve a prompt, fair and equitable settlement according to fair claims handling requirements. You will collaborate with external General Adjusters who handle commercial property claims of every complexity level with the highest degree of independence on most losses.
This is a 100% remote claims position, but looking to fill with someone in the Eastern or Central Time Zones. This position can be filled as an Inside Property Adjuster II or Inside Senior Property Adjuster I, depending on candidate experience.
Responsibilities:
- Conducts a prompt, thorough and fair investigation by obtaining relevant facts to determine coverage, origin, and extent of loss.
- Reviews and utilizes financial statements to adjust business interruption losses of any complexity with minimal supervision.
- Engages and manages consultants as required to assist in determining facts, causation, damages and exposure; monitors the costs to ensure they are reasonable and necessary.
- Establishes and maintains accurate loss cost estimates for each claim for reporting, financial records, and other purposes.
- Keeps the Insured and others informed about claim status with clear, timely and accurate written/oral communications.
- Effectively communicates in writing on any coverage issue with minimal review and coaching.
- Affirms or denies coverage of the claim based on the facts and the policy terms and conditions. Develops information necessary to make advance, partial and final payments when appropriate.
- Meet time requirements of the policy and fair claims handling practices.
- Effectively negotiate settlement of most claims with minimal supervision and some more complex claims
- Achieves a prompt, fair and equitable settlement of a claim, where there is policy liability.
- Pro-actively manage caseload for best-in-class service & outcomes.
- Travel requirement: 5-10%, ability and willingness to travel to the sites of catastrophe claims for assignments that may last several weeks.
This role might be for you if you have:

- Knowledge of Commercial property claims handling experience is preferred, but property (structure) claims experience is required, along with insurance operations; coverage evaluation; claims investigation, loss assessment and reserving, and negotiation and settlement.
- Intermediate computer competencies to include Excel, Word, Power-Point.
- Strong & efficient time management & desktop management skill-sets.
- Ability to collaborate effectively through teamwork, seek excellence through achieving results, practice continuance improvement and have a customer service focus.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent; successful completion of required internal training programs; AIC (Associate in Claims) modules 33, 35, 36; and at least 4-5 years of progressively responsible experience.
- Position requires an Adjusters License.
- Must be willing and able to travel to the sites of catastrophic claims for assignments that may last several weeks.
