Senior Procedural Training Specialist (f/m/x)
Location: Munich / Bavaria
Role Overview
This role will be responsible for providing primary laboratory support to visiting health care professionals (HCPs) and Smith+Nephew colleagues attending surgical trainings at the training centre. This position will be responsible for providing HCPs with technical procedural support, set up/clear up and troubleshooting assistance.
Additionally, Senior Specialists will be responsible for leading the lab in day-to-day activities to ensure all events are delivered to the highest standard.
The Senior Specialist is responsible for overseeing specimen stock, consumables stock, document management systems and coordinating with colleagues from Medical Education course delivery departments. A key part of this role is to work within the regulations that govern the facility, outlined by local governing bodies.
Responsibilities:
  • Act as a subject matter expert across all S+N franchises to visiting health care professionals during courses, and when needed during customer education visits/minilabs.
  • Communicating and demonstrating the use of surgical instruments and implants to maximise the learning opportunities.
  • Communicate with medical professionals at a high level of understanding pertaining to the surgical methods being demonstrated in the lab.
  • Management of specimen care, consumables and PPE stock.
  • Being the primary point of escalation for the team regarding lab related issues.
  • Maintain compliance to the terms of the human tissue license to ensure that all cadaveric material is acquired, stored, used and disposed of in accordance with the codes of practice defined by the HTA.
Requirements:
  • Relevant scientific education / professional training (e.g. trained Operationstechnische Assistenz / OTA)
  • Min. 3 years experience of working in a surgical or laboratory environment
  • Extensive orthopedic experience, including sports medicine, reconstruction and/or trauma (including surgical products and procedures)
  • Awareness of health and safety precautions in handling biological materials
  • Preferably: Experience of handling human cadaveric tissues and working under the terms of the local governing body
  • Experience of working in a training environment and providing practical training is beneficial
  • Strong competencies when it comes to service orientation, communication and leadership
  • Flexibility to work outside of normal office hours if necessary (e.g. Saturdays or evening)
  • Proficient German and English language knowledge (written and spoken), any additional language is a plus (e.g. French, Spanish)
