WSP is currently initiating a search for a Senior GIS Analyst to work within the National Geospatial Services Practice Team for our client projects throughout the U.S.

Your Impact

  • Coordinate and/or participate in the development of enterprise GIS solutions that extend ESRI ArcMap functionality and capabilities.
  • Gather, analyze, and integrate spatial and non-spatial data from WSP clientele, its contractors, or resource agencies and determine how best the information can be displayed using GIS technology.
  • Prepare spatial statistics, conduct spatial analyses, and perform database management. As needed, build models utilizing FME, Python, and/or ModelBuilder to process data and perform complex spatial analysis of GIS data.
  • Develop visualization and technical communication strategies to present data and analytical results.
  • Design and create computer generated drawings, maps, charts, graphs and illustrations utilizing the Esri ArcGIS 10.x product suite.
  • Perform data interoperability and translation functions between CAD programs (i.e., AutoCAD Civil 3D and MicroStation) and from CAD to GIS while maintaining data fidelity
  • Perform quality assurance of GIS data and processes as per the Standards defined.
  • Incorporate web mapping services (including WMS and TMS) into desktop and browser-based geospatial applications
  • Interface with internal/external web services, porting legacy VB code, utilizing source code repositories, providing developer and end user documentation, phases of the testing process (unit, functional, system, integration, usability and user acceptance), as well as a working knowledge of processes within the Software Development Life Cycle.
  • Maintain expertise in existing and emerging GIS-related software and technologies and evaluate their application to enhance Geospatial Services Team offerings.
  • Provide support, guidance, and training to WSP clients, subconsultants and other technical staff regarding how spatial data is stored and organized to be used
  • Organize and maintaining the design, implementation and day-to-day management of GIS data collected and used by WSP.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • This position requires a bachelor’s degree in Geography, Planning, Environmental or Social Science, or related field (an advance degree is a plus; see Preferred Qualifications below); candidates should have a minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in GIS development, programming, server administration, or geospatial analysis (or equivalent working knowledge/experience) related to database design and geospatial data management.
  • Knowledge of and proficiency with ArcGIS for Server and Server Architecture in a Cloud environment
  • Knowledge of and proficiency with multi-user geodatabases and geodatabase design, database replication/versioning techniques and best practices, and ArcGIS desktop client/ArcSDE server interface.
  • Knowledge of and proficinecy with ETL tools and data interoperability best practices.
  • Knowledge of and proficiency with geographic data management tools, practices, methods, and principles.
  • Knowledge of and proficiency with geospatial web application design methods, tools, and development
  • Knowledge of and proficiency with the effective use and operation of ArcGIS for Server 10.x and its extensions (Spatial Analyst, 3D Analyst, Network Analyst, etc.)
  • Knowledge of digitizing techniques, geographic standards, and coordinate systems.
  • Knowledge of cartographic design principles.
  • Knowledge of raster and vector data creation and editing.
  • Knowledge of geo-referencing, geoprocessing, and geocoding techniques and methods.
  • Knowledge of principles and practice of design platforms (i.e., Civil 3D Software, InRoads) and 3D corridor/surface models.
  • Ability of problem solving between GIS and CAD applications to perform efficient data management and data conversion.
  • Ability to organize work, establish priorities, meet established deadlines, and follow up on assignments with minimal direction.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and communications with client staff and project consultants, private contractors, employees, and the general public.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products is essential along with strong communication (verbal and written) skills.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Geography, Computer Science, Engineering, Land Survey, Transportation or related technical degree.
  • Principles and practices of project management, PMP Certification a plus.
  • Exceptional analytical and conceptual thinking skills.
  • Active involvement in professional organizations is desirable.
  • Engineering / Construction / Planning / Transportation Experience helpful

Expected Salary: $92,500 - $140,000
