The Sr Electrical Engineer will develop electrical hardware, electronics, firmware, and software for Exmark’s products of turf care equipment. Technologies include microprocessor-based controllers, mixed-signal control systems, displays, electronic motor drives, wire harnesses, electrified equipment. The Sr Electrical Engineer will be a leader in the electrical engineering group at Exmark and will work closely with teams of mechanical, test, and manufacturing engineers to bring innovative technologies to new products, including electrification, machine control, display technology, and automation.

What Will You Do?

In order to grow and build a successful career with The Toro Company, you will be responsible for:

  • Conceive, architect, design, and develop electrical and electronic hardware, firmware, and software for machine control, display technology, electrification (battery powered), functionally safe systems, wire harnesses and diagnostics tools.
  • Form technology roadmaps and execute strategic technology development. Represent Exmark on TTC-wide strategic roadmap and specialization teams.
  • Oversee, mentor, and review the work of others, including electrical and test engineers, designers, drafters. May have direct reports.
  • Contribute to product development planning including budgets and schedules. Execute to the development plan and assist in the control of the project.
  • Understand the needs and expectations of Exmark customers and develop products that meet and exceed them.
  • Make connections with other engineers across The Toro Company, to co-develop products and technologies.

What Do You Need?

To be considered for this role, an individual should meet the following minimal requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an ABET accredited Electrical or Computer engineering program; or Master’s degree in Electrical or Computer engineering from a university with an ABET accredited undergraduate engineering program.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a product design or related engineering role. An advanced degree may substitute for some years of experience.
  • Demonstrated capabilities as a technical leader in embedded electronics and firmware development.
  • Demonstrated experience designing, developing, and testing digital and analog circuits with PCB layout software.
  • Demonstrated experience developing embedded firmware for 32-bit microcontrollers in C/C++. Experience in application software development is a plus.
  • Experience in power electronics is a strong plus.
  • Knowledge of common communication busses such as CAN, SPI, I2C, is preferred.
  • Previous experience with system level design is preferred.
  • Experience utilizing Agile and Waterfall design methodologies a plus.
  • Good oral and written communication skills, in English.
