Senior Drafter

As a family of home builders and home service companies, Cavco Industries is a leading builder of Manufactured Homes, Modular Homes, Park Model RVs, Commercial Buildings and Vacation Cabins in the United States. Based in Phoenix, Arizona, Cavco has built a reputation for quality, value and service since it was founded in 1965. We are currently seeking a Senior Drafter to join our team in Austin, Texas.

The drafting group creates the design, configurations, and construction plans based on engineering guidance necessary to guide our production teams to manufacture industry leading homes and components for our customers.

The Senior Drafter oversees the drafting team at the plant level, ensuring that all drafting is completed in accordance with professional expectations and meeting service level expectations. The position will require the majority of the responsibility in completing and reviewing production and sales prints.

What you will be doing:

· Ensures accurate, timely preparation of the most complex engineering construction documents for a factory assembly line. This will include designs and specifications of floor plans, floor framing, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, roof framing, DWV isometric, cold and hot water, gas, and energy systems in accordance with manager’s directions, instructions, design concepts, and sales orders.

· Ensures maintenance of generation of floorplan approval documents and submittals

· Perform other duties as assigned

What we are looking for:

· Minimum of four (4) years of architectural design experience desired

· Drafting experience in the manufactured home, preferred

· Proficiency with AutoCAD

· Working knowledge of wood construction systems designs

· Understand building codes for both HUD and MOD specifications

· Ability to research MOD/ HUD construction codes and references

· Solid residential plumbing and electrical knowledge

· H.S. diploma and formal drafting or engineering certification or bachelor’s degree

· Proficient in Microsoft office tools (Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat (PDF)

· Ability to perform work on a timely schedule

· Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

· Excellent mechanical aptitude

· Ability to multi-task

· Keep abreast of current CAD standards to maintain drawing and bill of material development process
