Position Overview

In the wake of the Generation Equality journey, with the Agenda 2030 deadline on the horizon, and the need for increased investments in girls and women, the UN Foundation Girls and Women team seeks a skilled and experienced Senior Associate, Grants and Finance, to develop, support and manage the team’s fundraising efforts and donor reporting and management system.

The Senior Associate, Grants and Finance will work closely with the Senior Grants & Finance Manager and the Senior Director, Girls & Women Strategy to support proposal development, program monitoring and evaluation, reporting to donors, the team’s donor management system, and to support team budget and contracting operations.

This position is based in Washington, DC. (Hybrid schedule)

Essential Functions

Proposal Development & Fundraising

  • Determine proposal concept in collaboration with the Senior Grants & Finance Manager and Senior Director, Girls & Women Strategy, by clarifying opportunities and needs, studying requests for proposals (RFPs), and attending strategy meetings.
  • Prepare proposals, including writing narrative and financial reports, gathering supporting materials, formatting information from project managers and team leadership, and writing drafts.
  • Coordinate team review, revisions, approval, and submission process in partnership with project managers and team leadership.
  • Strengthen proposal writing process by evaluating processes, approach, coordination, and boilerplate language.
  • Conduct research, analysis, and prepare content for pitches to donors.

Reporting to Donors

  • Work across the team to regularly track and document program outputs and outcomes for reporting to donors.
  • Prepare reports and supporting materials by gathering and formatting information and writing drafts and populating donor templates with oversight.
  • Support team review, revisions, approval, and submission process with project managers and team leadership.
  • Prepare content for reporting presentations to donors and other partners with oversight.

Donor Management Systems

  • Develop donor management system to track current and pipeline donors and report deadlines with guidance from the supervisor.
  • Work closely with Senior Grants & Finance Manager to ensure alignment with internal G&W grantmaking processes and donor requirements and provide backstopping when necessary.
  • Work closely with Senior Associate, Girls & Women to ensure alignment with team systems, internal reporting to UN Foundation, and team documentation and stock language.
  • Work closely with teams such as, Integrated Development/Philanthropy, SP&I, Finance, and Contracts teams at UN Foundation to ensure alignment and compliance with Salesforce and due diligence, finance and contracting, mid-year reporting, and business planning processes.

Finance & Contracts

  • Support Senior Grants & Finance Manager as needed, with processing invoices, creating payment requests and financial reports, and supporting budget management
  • Draft and review agreements and maintain an understanding of all agreement terms and applicable flow-downs, consulting with UNF’s finance/contracts team as needed
  • Maintain working knowledge of the UNF agreement process (for both contracts and grants), and when to utilize the proper templates accordingly. (As applicable to the role)

  • Maintain a strong knowledge of UNF’s Salesforce database to be able to process and track agreements, extract information, and prepare reports. (As applicable to the role)
  • Other duties as assigned

Selection Criteria

  • Bachelor’s degree required in relevant field.
  • 3-4 years of relevant work experience, preferably in the gender equality ecosystem on women’s rights, girls’ rights, or other human rights, international development, or international relations
  • Demonstrated commitment to intersectional feminist values and principles preferred
  • Experience with proposal writing and reporting, particularly with private sector donors, foundations, or high-net-worth individuals
  • Strong analytical and synthesis writing skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and experience with budget management
  • Experience with donor management systems
  • Knowledge of the fundraising landscape in the gender equality ecosystem or international development preferred
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle stress
