Cargo

Using the cargo capacity of United’s route network, United Cargo propels the global economy by quickly transporting their customers’ shipments to and from virtually every major market in the world.

Job overview and responsibilities

Acts as team lead for region in development of new business strategies and capacity or revenue management to advance the state of revenue management in United’s $1.1 Billion cargo business. Works closely with regional sales and operations managers in development of network enhancing strategies around pricing, capacity or revenue management to accomplish regional and divisional objectives, including allocation strategies and pricing within approved parameters. Manages additional analyst (s) in region to ensure revenue management vision, strategies, plans and goals are uniformly developed and implemented.

Revenue Management

  • Plays a lead developmental role for strategies towards the optimization of cargo metrics such as revenue, pricing, inventory levels, tonnage and yield ensuring that the planning, forecasting and reporting results fit the needs of the organization
  • Leads the team in developing leveraged business intelligence and decision support systems to optimize cargo revenue and contribution opportunities
  • Leads relationships with Field Sales and Operations to facilitate communication of any type that may impact, negatively or positively, cargo revenue/contribution, including resolution of issues
  • Collaborate cross departmentally in delivering optimal results through planning and execution Lead communications facilitation role between the Field Sales teams and Field operations teams regarding monthly goals and objectives

Forecasting

  • Support in the development and implementation of forecasting models to support accurate freight and inventory forecasts

Leadership

  • Plays a lead in communications of strategies to support the goals and standards for Cargo Revenue Management business processes
  • Leads collaboration efforts across Pricing, Capacity and Revenue Management teams in making decisions related to optimizing cargo revenues and contribution at United
  • Leads coordination efforts in setting goals and business approval processes between HQ and other field analysts to ensure speed to market, including facilitating issue resolution with field sales management
  • Plays a lead departmental contact role for the Sales, Finance, Marketing, Claims and Technology teams in recommending optimal courses of action which result from customer driven initiatives and market driven changes

Qualifications


Required

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5 years professional business experience
  • Experience in working cross functionally, preferably with sales, finance and operations teams
  • Intermediate Level Microsoft Excel, Access, PowerPoint
  • Experience in critical thinking and problem solving
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

Preferred

  • Master’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Airline experience, international business experience, transportation experience, commercial and financial decision making, Negotiation, communications, influencing
