Job Description


The Opportunity:

We are currently seeking a Senior Accountant to join our Commercial Finance & Accounting team in El Segundo, CA. You will play a critical role in supporting the financial management of Mattel’s largest divisions.

What Your Impact Will Be:

  • Perform general ledger close procedures in Oracle as part of the monthly/quarterly/annual close process. This includes the preparation of journal entries, primarily related to inventory, obsolescence, logistics and other areas.
  • Partner with FP&A team to ensure that they understand the drivers of specific P&L variances during the close.
  • Maintain standard costs in the Mattel inventory system to ensure integrity of inventory value/cost. This includes constant monitoring of standard cost variances and updating of inventory costs as necessary.
  • Coordinate with various business groups including Closeout Sales team, Sales Finance, and Demand Planning for quarterly obsolescence review to support management business decision.
  • Perform detailed account reconciliations related to sales, inventory, logistics & others.
  • Leverage various systems such as Oracle, HFM, ISIS, AppXtender, Handler, etc. to provide continuous support and smooth operation.
  • Support internal and external audit requests.
  • Ensure compliance with Corporate accounting policies and Sarbanes Oxley requirements.

Qualifications


What We’re Looking For:

  • BS/BA in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration
  • MBA or CPA license is a plus
  • Minimum of 5+ years of work experience, preferably in a large global corporate accounting department
  • Experience with Canada’s statutory requirements a plus
  • Knowledge of Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) and Oracle a plus
  • Solid understanding of financial accounting concepts
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Communication skills in a geographically distributed and fast-paced environment
  • Strong documentation skills with attention to detail a must
  • Self-starter with problem solver skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and written
  • Strong relationship building skills

The annual base salary range for this position is between $82,000.00 and $123,000.00.
**This range is indicative of projected hiring range, however annual base salary will be determined based on a candidate’s work location, skills and experience.
