The Safety Coordinator helps to assist, plan, and implement safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations including OSHA, DOT and food safety programs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

· Promotes a workplace that is a proactive safety culture

· Inspects facilities to detect existing or potentially unsafe conditions

· Maintains environmental and safety files and records including audits.

· Enhance and continually improve the culture of safety and compliance.

· Conduct job hazard analysis, safety inspections and safety audits.

· Interact with Insurance company on auto claims.

· Conduct incident investigations, ensuring proper follow-up, training, and documentation.

· Ensures compliance with all State and Federal regulations including OSHA, FDA, DOT, USDA and HACCP requirements and all other company safety measures, policies, procedures, and processes.

· Builds and facilitates relationships, acting professionally and efficiently; maintains good relationships with sales teams and Operations.

· Member of the food safety team for annual 3rd party warehouse audit/certification

· Makes recommendations for improvements and drives change for safety improvements throughout the organization.

· Performs Root Cause analysis for all accidents and incidents

· Stays informed on all industry trends; keeps current and increases knowledge of all freezer/warehouse programs.

Education and Experience

· Associate Degree preferred. In lieu of degree, 3 – 7 years relevant experience required.

· 3 plus years warehousing/logistics experience preferred

Skills/Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of OSHA, DOT, FDA, USDA and HCAAP programs, Company policies and safety programs.
  • Familiar with warehouse material handling equipment, including, but not limited to, reach trucks, electric pallet jacks, forklifts, and hand-trucks.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Proven analytical skills – display strong problem solving and organizational skills
  • Strong professional and proven written, verbal and presentation communication skills.
  • Ability to interact with all levels and departments within the company.
  • Demonstrate professional maturity and ability to act as a change agent
  • Strong multi-tasking, follow through, and organizational skills managing multiple projects/details simultaneously under deadline pressure.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and telephone to talk and hear.
  • Frequently required to sit and reach with hands and arms.
  • Ability to occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds.

Work Environment

  • Office, warehouse, cooler and freezer environment.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate

Travel

  • Occasional travel by car to company facilities
