We are a joint venture between Baylor Scott & White Health, Tenet Healthcare, United Surgical Partners International, and local physicians. We perform over 7,000 procedures and have 9 operating suites with 21 inpatient rooms, and an emergency department open 24/7 with an ED physician on-site.

Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Trophy Club is seeking a PreOP RN to join our family.

Under the supervision of the Charge Nurse and Director of Pre-Op/PACU, the PreOP RN is responsible for implementing the Pre-Op Nursing Assessment/Post Anesthesia Care record and nursing care plan. The PreOP RN is also responsible for implementing all physician orders, providing for the continuity and quality of nursing care for all patients, with continual evaluation of the patient’s condition, providing patient safety, comfort, and privacy at all time. At times, assist the physicians in the procedure rooms with various tasks, conscious sedation and utilizing sterile technique as deemed appropriate.

Duties for the PreOP RN, include but not limited to:
Manage patients’ admission processes to preoperative department in a hospital

Assess the status of patients’ health in pre-op and ensure accuracy of identification wristband

Ensure that operative and informed consents are in order

Determine the surgeon and procedure being carried out

Take and record vital statistics of patients to ensure readiness for surgical procedure

Initiate IVs and ensure that patients are informed about the procedure and attending medical staff

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing

Minimum 2 year experience in a clinical setting

Current Texas Nursing License

Current CPR and ACLS

PALS to be acquired within 90 days of employment if not currently certified

Excellent communication skills

Good Organization habits

Ability to adapt to change quickly, strong knowledge base relative to surgery procedures and management of the surgical patient

Understands principles of aseptic technique and their implementation

Ability to care for patients from one year old to geriatrics

Excellent teaching skills

Basic knowledge of Continuous Quality Improvement ideology
