The team you'll be part of
The pandemic has highlighted how important telecoms networks are to society. Nokia’s Network Infrastructure group is at the heart of a revolution to bring more and faster network capacity to people worldwide through our ambition, innovation, and technical expertise.
Resident Engineer advocate encompasses a wide range of responsibilities from network strategy, design and engineering, implementation and migration planning, service design and proof of concept, implementation, testing, optimization services, customer training and advice and on-site support. The role is to assist the Customer with HW and SW issues as they roll out Nokia’s optical product line and to support the Customer through difficult product issues as a first line and liaison back into Nokia Optical engineering and R&D. The work is both remote and on-site with customers.

What you will learn and contribute to
As part of our team, you will:

  • Support Customer in configuring equipment and services.
  • Test and support networks in various stages of deployment.
  • Audit and assess network against customer service requirements and best practices.
  • Formulate network management strategies.
  • Produce and review technical statement of work documentation method of procedures (MOP).

Your skills and experience

You have
• Demonstrated technical and industry expertise, typically 7+ years of relevant optical networking experience with a telecom communications equipment vendor or service provider in configuring, monitoring and troubleshooting LH/Metro Optical DWDM networks

  • 3+ years background and experience in Network Management Systems (NMS) and provisioning
• Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills to end-clients.
  • Knowledge and practical experience in most if not all of the following areas:
  • Scripting and Automation
  • Optical Transport Networks, DWDM, ideally familiarity with Nokia 1830 optical platforms a plus
  • Optical Networking CDC (color-less, direction-less and contention-less), GMPLS and layer2 IP over DWDM networks
It would be nice if you also had:
  • A Bachelor's degree or some technical school coursework (EE or Computer Science) or military experience.
  • Nokia Optical platforms knowledge preferred with solid knowledge of long haul, metro, and IP/Optical Background in server environment SW virtualization
  • Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills to end-clients.
  • The ability to organize, give direction, and support other team members; you should be able to interpret and ensure policies are followed
  • The ability to influence others, communicate with leaders of other organizations and present information in a meaningful manner
