This position is held within the Office of Legal and Acquisition Services

Remote Work Details: This position, upon approval, may work remotely and require occasional in-person work for training, meetings and other operational needs. Successful candidates must have and maintain internet at their remote location during normal working hours. Employees will have access to shared workspaces at an ODJFS location. Employees must reside in Ohio and within a reasonable distance to their assigned work location to respond to workplace reporting requirements.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Under general direction, responds to inquiries for information and/or complaints that require indepth knowledge of applicable laws, rules, policies and procedures as they pertain in given situation and independently determines appropriate action for resolution and operates personal computer and/or computer terminal to enter, update, correct, delete or send data, retrieve/look-up data to verify/give out information or give status of file/case, or schedule and reschedule rooms, appointments, hearings, meetings, register customers, log and track calls and/or other information (e.g., movement of file; status of appeal; outcome of appeal; all materials received relative to appeal) and/or compose and/or generate reports and correspondence: completes reinstatement of fair hearing benefits/program eligibility in computer system (e.g., Ohio Benefits Worker Portal; Client Registry Information System-Enhanced) (e.g., inputs consumer information; utilizes Eligibility Determination Benefit Calculator [EDBC] in the Ohio Benefits System; verifies fair hearing benefits when a hearing is timely requested; reinstates benefit at the level the County Department of Job and Family Services [CDJFS] caseworker had already determined prior to the adverse action); responds by phone, in person, or in writing to customer, county, sensitive inquiries, and legislative inquiries regarding state hearings and the establishment and closure (post hearing decision) of fair hearing benefits; enters dispositions of state hearings into Hearing and Appeals Tracking System (HATS X); participates in establishment and closure of fair hearing benefits of other human services programs (e.g., Medicaid Modified Adjusted Gross income (MMAGI); Food Assistance; Cash Assistance).
Coordinates with coworkers and utilizes various methods of learning (e.g., webinar; procedures manual; desk aids) to receive and provide training on job duties; utilizes personal computer and applicable software applications (e.g., Excel; Crystal Reports) to prepare and produce production reports and other types of reports and records; makes copies of records and completes judicial review requests.
Performs other related duties as assigned (e.g., participates in staff meetings; travels to attend training as required; maintains logs, records and files).

9 mos. trg. or 9 mos. exp. in office practices & procedures;
AND 9 mos. trg. or 9 mos. exp. in public relations or customer service that included techniques for handling difficult people;
AND 9 mos. trg. or 9 mos. exp. in typing, keyboarding, data entry or word processing;
AND 9 mos. trg. or 9 mos. exp. in operation of personal computer.

Unless required by legislation or union contract, staring salary will be set at step 1 of the pay range (currently $20.31 per hour). If this position is filled internally, the wage rate will be determined in accordance with the labor contract.
