Regulatory Remediation Lead- Director

Citi’s Chief Administrative Office (CAO) brings consistency and clarity to the way we work at Citi and our approach to regulation around the world. This role provides a unique opportunity to see across Citi as part of the CAO organization’s Global Regulatory Response team, which is responsible for establishing a globally consistent regulatory response management and interaction governance model that includes setting minimum standards for the management of regulatory responses, progress reports, and interactions and governance of supervisory exam-related findings.

Regulatory Response writers will work within the Global Regulatory Response team and will report directly to the Global Regulatory Response Management Lead.

Regulatory Response writers will be responsible for drafting response documents, including Quarterly Progress Reports and other responses to supervisory letters, collecting and iterating on inputs from key stakeholders and subject matter experts to inform these documents, as well as coordinating deadlines and implementing best practices for regulatory response management as set by the Regulatory Response team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drafting and editing Citi’s responses to the Regulatory Consent Orders and related transformation efforts across businesses, functions, and regions, as needed, acting in close collaboration with the Transformation Office, the Transformation Central Legal Team and the CAO Office, among others
  • Strategic thought leadership around effective representations of Citi’s work to internal and external stakeholders
  • Supervise a team of response writers, program managers, and other stakeholders to deliver regulatory responses that meet management, Board and regulatory expectations
  • Review existing materials (e.g., incoming regulatory correspondence, regulatory meeting minutes, prior regulatory submissions) to understand submission context for responses
  • Draft initial version of responses and other related submission documents and participate in robust review sessions to refine drafts
  • Attend supervisory meetings, and ensure concerns are appropriately incorporated into Citi’s regulatory lifecycle management processes
  • Collect and aggregate inputs from key stakeholders and subject matter experts for refining responses and other related submission documents
  • Syndicate responses and other related submission documents with relevant stakeholders
  • Review and conduct consistency and quality checks to ensure accuracy and clarity of responses and other related submission documents
  • Engage with internal and/or external counsel and other legal advisory support as needed to refine regulatory submissions, ensuring all regulatory responses are in the spirit of the law

Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of experience working in a major bank and/or in a law firm preferred, including 5 years’ experience in legal technical writing, preferably at a global law firm
  • Working knowledge of regulatory issues arising in large financial institutions
  • Familiarity with institutional banking, markets and finance businesses, products and structures
  • Ability to write clearly and think laterally to find solutions
  • Ability to manage and deliver projects across multiple stakeholders
  • Good business judgement and strong communication skills (both written and oral)
  • Experience and comfort with dynamic, changing environments
  • Self-driven and able to learn and adapt quickly
  • Proficiency with SharePoint, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel

Education:

  • Bachelor’s/University degree or equivalent experience required; Juris Doctor degree preferred
