The City of Tukwila is a dynamic suburb of Seattle, Washington with a population of 21,000 residents and a daytime population of more than 125,000 due to its strong retail, manufacturing, and industrial base. Tukwila shares borders with the Cities of Seattle, Renton, SeaTac, Burien and Kent. Its central location lies in the heart of the Puget Sound Region, sitting 12 miles south of downtown Seattle, 17 miles north of downtown Tacoma, and just east of SeaTac Airport. It is easily accessed by I-5 and I-405 or via either of Tukwila's two train stations, the Sounder Station or the Sound Transit Light Rail Station. About Our Community:
The Tukwila Community Center is home to meeting rooms, classrooms, banquet facilities, and a commercial kitchen. The Center is located near the I-5/I-405 interchange and near highways 99 and 599, making access easy. There is plenty of free on-site parking, and the convenient location makes the Center the perfect location for indoor conferences, meetings, special events, and more.
This position is a seasonal/temporary position and Non-PERS Eligible. All positions are limited, part time and will not exceed 1040 hours in a 12-month period. You can expect to work 15 - 20 hours per week depending on program needs. It is preferred that individuals be available Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and possibly some Thursdays. Must be flexible with the hours you work.

Provides direct leadership and supervision over senior program activities and trips including driving a 15-passenger van.
Assists with general supervision of senior programs. Fills in with direct leadership in the event senior staff are unavailable.
Safeguards program participants and provides for a clean and safe working environment.
Completes and maintains proper forms, reports for recreation staff.
Maintains and oversees the proper use of equipment and supplies by participants.May assist with planning, scheduling, and organizing of various senior events and activities.
Other duties vary based on specific responsibilities for each position.
Ability to plan, lead, and supervise activities for senior programs.;
Friendly, positive and supportive customer service skills to respond to public inquiries regarding programs and activities;
Physical ability sufficient to perform the essential functions of the position;
Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing;
Ability to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with program participants, volunteers, and the general public;
Ability to work independently or with minimal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum of 18 years of age;
Possess a High School Diploma or GED;
Minimum of two years' experience in a similar work environment.
Special Requirements:
Must possess a valid Driver's License;
Must be physically capable of assisting in physical activities (hike or walk 5 miles on a senior hike);
Maintain current CPR/First Aid certifications, or the ability to obtain prior to employment.

HOURS OF WORK
Hours of work vary depending on the position and may require night and weekend shifts.
PAY DAYS
Pay days occur on the 10th and 25th of each month (24 pay periods annually).
Direct deposit of pay is available.
SICK LEAVE
As provided by Washington State Initiative 1433 included in RCW 49.46
RETIREMENT
Some positions may be eligible for membership in the Washington State Retirement PERS Plan 2 or PERS Plan 3 systems. Both the employee and the employer contribute to these plans.
ORCA Cards for commuting via regional transit may be available depending upon department approval.
