Job description
The Ranch Respite Provider provides respite, skills training, crisis intervention, and structured therapeutic supports for children ages six to seventeen. The position is full or part time based on season, need, and availability. Respite is a behavioral health service designed to relieve pressure on and provide respite to caretakers while providing a supportive, strengths based, healthy, and structured environment for members to develop skills and have fun. The Ranch Respite Provider is responsible for actively supervising, supporting, and engaging with members during respite programing. The Ranch Respite Provider should possess understanding of age appropriate behavioral interventions, have direct experience working with children with a variety of backgrounds, and/or experience in experiential/adventure education and learning.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (with or without accommodation):
- Provide direct support and supervision of respite members ages 6-17 while in ranch based, natural, outdoor, and community settings.
- Plan and provide meaningful experiential learning opportunities and experiences for groups or individuals that include: social skills, communication skills, esteem building, emotional regulation skills, behavioral management, and recreation activities while in an outdoor environment.
- Process spontaneous, naturally occurring experiential learning opportunities to help members globalize learning.
- Transport clients to and from community outings, to and from scheduled respite services, and to and from other activities.
- Implement strengths-based interventions and curriculum when applicable.
- Assist in the development of activity plans for clients who are participating in group and respite activities.
- Schedule, support, and continually evaluate referred members in need of behavioral health services.
- Maintain clinical record of services provided, observations of members, and coordination supports.
- Ensure that paperwork is completed accurately and in a timely manner.
- Focus on the safety and well-being of the child(ren) and families in all aspects of work.
- Attend and/or make reports to the Child and Family Team (CFT) during CFT meetings as scheduled and required.
- Collaborate and meet with other service providers and internal team members to coordinate services.
- Attend and participate in all required staff meetings as necessary.
- Promote and follow practices that support the health/safety of staff and members.
- Must work scheduled hours, be punctual, keep appointments, and use time effectively in order to meet productivity.
- Perform simple administrative tasks.
- Any other tasks as assigned and able.
Education –
- High School or GED required.
Experience –
- Experience working with children and families required.
- Experience with animal husbandry and/or outdoor adventure activities preferred.
Regulatory –
- Minimum 21 years of age.
- Clean criminal background check and the ability to obtain and maintain an AZ DPS Level 1 fingerprint clearance card.
- Current valid, unrestricted driver’s license, proof of insurance, and a driving record that meets the standards of the agency.
