Naval Station Great lakes needs a Protestant Music Director for Protestant Christian worship services in support of the Recruit Memorial Chapel and the Blue Jacket Memorial Chapel worship, special events and ceremonies.

PERSONNEL QUALIFICATIONS

Protestant Music Director shall have the pre-requisite skills and experience consistent with musicians whose background and experiences are acceptable to Chapel requirements. Pre-requisite skills will be based on the following criteria:

• Shall have a clear understanding of Navy organization and the pluralistic ministry requirements that affect the use of Chapel facilities and staff.
• Shall have at least two years of piano accompanist and worship musical leadership in a contemporary Christian church.
• Shall demonstrate requisite skills in a variety of praise and worship music genres appropriate for a variety of sacred music styles found in contemporary Christian worship.

Tasks :

Perform up to 223 units for a base year with three option years. A unit is defined as one event, such as a worship service, a choir rehearsal/administration time and is typically one and a half hours in length.

Provide for two Protestant Sunday services per week for a total of 104 units (one service in each Chapel, Recruit Memorial Chapel and Blue Jacket Memorial Chapel).

Provide for special services including, but not limited to:Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, New Years, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, special events, and similar services – not to exceed 10 units per year in coordination with the Command Chaplain.
