Job description
The Office of Business Services at the University of Virginia (UVA) seeks applications for a Project Manager to assist with projects and initiatives in various business units. The units consist of Campus Card Office and Access Control, Dining Services, UVA Bookstore, Parking and Transportation, Housing and Residence Life, Print and Copy Services, and Mail Services.
The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Develop systems and processes necessary for the recruitment, tracking, planning, and execution of projects.
- Attend client meetings for ongoing and prospective projects. Arrange, manage, and maintain relevant relationships.
- Oversee the development of relevant project proposals and budgets and recommend approval of them before submission to clients.
- Analyze short-term and long-term resource needs and adjust staffing and resources appropriately.
- Ensure completion of deliverables and adherence to timelines, track milestones and timelines across projects, and institute necessary work flow, personnel, and financial resource allocations.
- Analyze and resolve issues that have the potential to jeopardize performance.
- Responsible for financial performance of projects. Analyze financial and operational reports.
- Proactively identify changes in work scope and ensure appropriate planning measures are taken with internal and external clients to reassess, renegotiate, and amend scope of work responsibilities, proposals, contracts, and budgets.
- Engage in communication and change management in relation to progress of projects.
- In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
Qualified candidates must have Education:
- Bachelor's degree
- Experience: At least four years of experience. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Licensure: Project Management Institute (PMI) certification is typically possessed.

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
This position is located in Charlottesville, VA.
Anticipated Hiring Range: $88,000 - $110,000 commensurate with education and experience. This position may offer the opportunity for a hybrid work schedule dependent upon the needs of the department and incumbent's performance. This is an Exempt level, benefited position.
