Purpose
Assists the programs manager in the daily operations of the Programs Department to ensure that the essential duties and responsibilities of department are being met. This includes but may not be limited to Developing, implementing and coordinating programs for independent and assisted living residents in the Community.

Position is part time 20 to 29 hrs. per week.
T/TH 2:00-7:00 PM, W/F 3:30-8:30 PM

Essential Functions

  • Facilitates scheduled activities such as excursions, games, musical and cultural programs, and lectures to independent and assisted living residents to develop interpersonal relationships, to socialize effectively, and to foster mental, emotional and social interests.
  • Works with the Programs Manager to regulate content of programs in accordance with budget and residents' capabilities, needs and interests.
  • Coordinates special outings, and accompanies residents on outings such as excursions, luncheons, or sightseeing.
  • Designs, develops, organizes, coordinates and updates program flyers, as well as daily and weekly event notifications. Administers flyers and advertisements on the community bulletin boards, Pilina (Arcadia’s website) and Touch Town (electronic signage)
  • Assists with organizing and maintaining the Outlook calendar of programming events
  • Communicates and collaborates with other departments to coordinate and facilitate scheduled programs, resident and staff events.
  • Assists the programs manager to negotiates and maintain relationships with entertainers, speakers, and visitors as applicable.
  • Develops and maintains a positive rapport with residents and encourages residents to develop leisure activities.
  • Drafts, develops, writes and edits articles, maintains layout and distributes the monthly resident newsletter entitled Action Line.
  • Collects and compiles attendance and participation records.
  • Set up AV equipment as necessary for events, presentations and functions.
  • Works with the Chaplain and visiting pastors to develop and implement the weekly Vespers Services, and other religious events.
  • Works with the Programs Manager to coordinate Memorial Services.
  • Provides “back up” for all Program Department duties
  • Other duties as assigned by the Arcadia Family of Companies.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or University; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Proficiency in MS Office Suite, including Publisher, MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Outlook.

Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment
While performing their essential functions, employees are occasionally exposed to the following conditions:
