Eagle Ford Overview
ConocoPhillips’ acreage is located in the sweet spot of the Eagle Ford tight oil trend, located in the Western Gulf Basin of South Texas. The company was one of the first to enter the play in 2009, and by year-end 2021 held approximately 200,000 net leasehold and mineral acres, primarily in DeWitt, Karnes, and Live Oak counties. Since field inception, ConocoPhillips has produced more than 600 million barrels of oil equivalent from the field and continues to build the Eagle Ford into a legacy asset with production expected for years to come. In 2021, net production from the Eagle Ford averaged 211 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day, with about 80 percent of the production coming from liquids.
Description
This position will be responsible for providing production engineering and operations support for the optimization of well production and financial performance to the Operations organization in the Eagle Ford Asset of South Texas. The Engineering assignment will be in Houston, Texas with expectations of periodic visits to field operations, which are approximately 3 hours driving distance to the Kenedy, TX field office and well sites as needed. Field visits will usually be less than 3 days each.
If you are selected as the Production Engineer, your activities will include general production surveillance of approximately 200 producing wells; identifying, evaluating and planning production optimization opportunities; identifying, evaluating and planning well workovers, cost tracking and invoice approval, and designing and implementing artificial lift programs. You will work closely with a peer group of production engineers, field operations and operations center staff, facilities engineering, reservoir engineering, geoscientists, drilling engineering, completions engineering, regulatory, environmental, finance and landmen to ensure delivery of year-over-year budget targets.
Your responsibilities may include:
- Providing the technical support and guidance required to optimize existing and new well production
- Identifying and pursuing production optimization opportunities
- Conducting production surveillance
- Identifying, planning, and executing well workovers, artificial lift, and well intervention projects
- Recommending modifications and/or investments to upgrade systems to enhance production and control cost
- Working closely with field operations staff supporting their day-to-day operations
- Conducting program and work activity post-audits to drive process improvement
- Providing support for Eagle Ford LRP
- Ensuring engineering designs follow industry and company standards and codes
Basic/Required:
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States as a U.S. citizen or national, or an alien admitted as a permanent resident, refugee or asylee
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, other related Engineering field, or foreign equivalent
- 1+ years of production engineering experience or other upstream oil and gas industry experience
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft O365 applications: Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams and Word
- Willing and able (with or without reasonable accommodation) to travel 10% of the time on a yearly basis
Preferred:
- 3+ years of production engineering experience
- 3+ years of experience in well artificial lift design and surveillance (primary focus on gas lift and plunger lift design), well operations, and well interventions
- Advanced knowledge in Petroleum Engineering skills including production monitoring/forecasting, artificial lift design/selection, nodal analysis, remedial/well interventions and optimization
- Strong commitment to continuous improvement, safety & environmental stewardship, and business ethics
- Efficient interpersonal, innovative thinking, collaboration and organization skills and the initiative to work without constant supervision while taking accountability to deliver results
- Ability to keep pace with active development and operating programs and the ability to react to the dynamics of a continual learning organization
- Competent in the utilization of data analysis (e.g. Spotfire), production surveillance and analysis (e.g. Cygnet, SNAP) and well information data management (e.g. WellView, Generwell)
- Effective collaboration with a team of engineers and field operations (MSO, production supervisors, project leads, rig supervisors)
- Takes ownership of actions and follows through on dedications by holding others accountable and standing up for what's right
- Builds positive relationships based on trust and seeks collaboration across organizational boundaries to achieve goals
- Listens actively and invites new ideas for exchanged opinions, then influences and acts to drive positive performance and achieve results
