Responsibilities:

In this role, you will be responsible for monitoring and improving manufacturing results and engineering processes as the OPS Extrusion or Solid Sheet Thermo-Forming Process Tech. This hands-on role requires you to be knowledgeable of manufacturing equipment, processing and troubleshooting.

Job Duties include but not limited to:

• Provides on-call after hours engineering support as required for 24 Hour Plant Manufacturing processes.
• Establishes, coordinates and directs Extrusion and/or Thermoforming process improvement initiatives.
• Provides technical operations support for Extrusion and/or Thermoforming manufacturing problems. Develops and leads process-improvement initiatives to address specific issues as they arise.
• Develops OEE and Quality improvement plans with the plant Leadership Team to meet Pactiv targets.
• Assists in the development of the capital budget project pool.
• Assists in the development of the technical talent in the group.
• Provides technical support of Changeover teams in order to optimize efficiency.
• Leads the team for completion of safety awareness topics and works for the reduction of triggers for unsafe behaviors. Corrects safety related issues and leads investigations on safety related topics.
• Utilizes Plan, Do, Check and Adjust methodology for managing daily improvement (MDI).
• Capable of recognizing opportunities for improvement and generating a list of ideas for annual plant operational improvement.
• Utilizes lean methods (Kaizen) for process improvements and utilizes daily coaching for sustainment.
• Utilizes operational data to make informed decisions on a daily basis.
• Uses metrics for accountability to mark improvement or need for improvement.
• Provides engineering support and resources to sustain plant production including assisting with plant facilities and production equipment maintenance.
• Assist operations in the development of Operator & Sr. Operator Specialist skills

Qualifications:

• Ability to create, and follow written procedures related to tooling / equipment changeover(s), checklists, tooling maintenance, tooling repair, tooling storage and retrieval and tool shop housekeeping.
• Must be self-directed and reliable.
• Must have acceptable work and attendance record:
• Must successfully complete Senior Operator Specialist certification.
• Must be able to interact and effectively communicate with other associates in a team oriented environment.
• Must be able to troubleshoot process problems quickly and accurately in a fast paced environment.
• Willing and able to provide off shift technical support when required.
• Exhibit ability to develop and audit process training materials and manage operator qualifications training matrix.

• 2-3 years of plant experience in technical and supervisory roles (preferred) - well versed in all facets of plant operations and maintenance with a strong emphasis on safety.
• Lean Methodologies or Continuous Process Improvement desired.
• Technical experience to include process support and working/hands-on knowledge of Plastic extrusion and/or thermoforming on a large scale with demonstrated results.
