Collins Aerospace is seeking an experienced Process Engineer II (Onsite). Reporting to the Senior Manager, Shared Services Value Stream, and located at our Troy, OH Landing Systems Headquarters. Our Landing Systems Business Unit headquartered in Troy, Ohio designs, tests, and manufactures a wide range of fully integrated landing systems. Our innovative solutions include lighter-weight, high-strength materials; more electric technologies; DURACARB® carbon friction material; EDL® extended life configurations; and innovative aircraft gear, wheel, and brake design.

This position will work onsite at our Troy, OH Landing Systems Headquarters.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assure processes, including equipment, fixture design, routings, programming, tooling, and standard work in support of the following processes: Assembly Processes for Aircraft Brakes and Wheels, Machining, Anodize, Chemical Etch, Aluminum Conversion Coating, Fluorescent Penetrant Inspection, Wastewater Treatment, and Shot Peen.
  • Continuously improve quality and productivity using the CORE Operating System for products and processes including compliance to these processes.
  • Identify and implement cost savings as related to direct and indirect labor savings, and expense account budgets.
  • Lean Transformation
  • Partner with CORE / CI to support the site transformation journey.
  • Support the transformation roadmap.
  • Create cells through product/process family alignment.
  • Transform Cells to flow / pitch / takt.
  • Implement JIT/JIS Materials Management philosophy.
  • Ensure the cell implements and operates ‘daily’ to the 6 principles of Ops Management
  • Standard Work (Time based standard work for all functions)
  • Process Confirmation (validation of completion of standard work)
  • Flow (linkage and flow of processes)
  • Resilience (Man and Material in required quantities, SWIP:WIP)
  • Winning vs. Losing (constant visibility of performance to plan)
  • Closed Loop Systems (corrective actions for all losses)
  • Roll up metrics from all ongoing cell projects within the VS.
  • Ability to lead activities related to compliance audits including AS9100, NADCAP, etc.
  • Provide technical support for serving as liaison between Value Streams, Quality Assurance, EH&S and Design Engineering.

  • Positively affect KPI change, including, but not limited to Output, Hours, On Time Delivery, Inventory (WIP) (SWIP to WIP ratio approaching 1), Lead Time (Days to Manufacture) decreases, Productivity / Efficiency / Utilization / OEE increases, Yield / Process Capability increases, Schedule Stabilization improvement, Safety (First Aid, recordable, lost time), SRR, Escapes
  • Lead special projects as needed.
  • Success will be defined by the successful attainment of the business results (closest to the pin) while driving the correct and appropriate culture (open, honest, transparent, ethical, accountable, data based, winning) and tools (CORE) for long term success of the Value Stream.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations or equivalent experience and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field.
  • 5+ years’ experience in support of manufacturing operations with a focus on machining and problem solving.
  • Experience in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) including MS Project and analysis tool pack and macro programming.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with the continuous improvement philosophy including working within an environment that embraces the daily use of these tools in a team environment.
  • Experience operating within a fast-paced manufacturing company.
  • Ability to work independently and with small teams.
  • Experience with project and budget management.
  • SAP experience
  • Lean Manufacturing Experience
