Job description
Medtronic Energy and Component Center (MECC) in Brooklyn Center, MN designs, develops, and manufactures the energy components used in implantable devices for a variety of Medtronic businesses. MECC is looking to hire a Process Development Technician with hands-on experience in equipment and process development to join a growing team developing the equipment for Battery and Capacitor manufacturing capacity expansion projects. The Process Development Technician provides technical support during the design, build, and process development of custom-made tooling, equipment, and stations.
A Day in the Life
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
- Performs a variety of duties in the electronic, mechanical, electromechanical, and/or optical areas.
- Constructs, troubleshoots, calibrates, adjusts, tests, diagnoses, and maintains equipment, components, devices, or systems.
- Works from schematics, engineering drawings and written or verbal instructions.
- Operates related equipment; conducts tests and reports data in prescribed format.
- Performs calibration and alignment checks; makes adjustments, modifications, and replacements as directed; prepares prescribed compounds and solutions.
- Collaborate with engineering team on the design, development and deployment of automated, servo-mechanical, electromechanical and/or optical equipment.
- Tear down of product to conduct root cause investigation and problem solving.
- Work from schematics, engineering drawings and written or verbal instructions.
- Minimum of 15 years of experience of relevant and may require vocational or technical education and advanced certification in addition to prior work experience
- Must have a HS Diploma or Equivalent
Nice to Have
- AS degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and work cooperatively as part of a team
- Recognized as expert in technical area, with high degree of initiative.
- Experienced with related fields of engineering such as electrical, pneumatics, optics/vision, motion control and/or inspection software.
- Trains, delegates, and reviews the work of lower-level employees and may be responsible for leading a team
- Performs most complex technical activities and identifies, evaluates, and implements continuous improvements to optimize equipment/process development
- Extensive knowledge and application of drafting practices, GD&T and tolerance analysis
- CAD/Solidworks experience with the ability to read, interpret, and update prints
- Knowledge of Design for Assembly analyses, mistake proofing techniques, and Process Failure Mode Effect Analyses.
