Performance Responsibilities: 1.The Principal serves as the educational leader of the school, administering all facets of its instructional program, including the co-curricular activities. Supervises all certified and non-certified staff assigned to the school and establishes expectations for student learning performance, conduct, and attendance.2.The Principal ensures that all efforts have been made or will be made to meet the academic and social-emotional needs of ALL learners in the school. 3.As part of his/her responsibilities, the Principal shall promote instructional practices responsive to student needs and shall ensure that adequate instructional support is available for students and teachers. Essential Functions: 1.Supervises the delivery of instruction to all students ensuring that teachers focus on the Massachusetts State Frameworks 2. Demonstrates currency in education theories and practices including student assessment and data analysis.3. The principal with the assistance of the Director of Pupil Personnel Services shall coordinate the delivery and supervision of special education services and English Learner services within the school. 4.
Facilitate building leadership team meetings and set productive agendas focused on curriculum, instruction and assessment. 5. Leads of school based Professional Learning Communities utilizing a collaborative leadership style.6. Ensure effective implementation of Academic Student Support Team and teacher referral and follow-up.7.
Encourages and facilitates faculty and staff professional growth and development.8. Fosters positive student, parent, staff and community relationships.9. Implements federal and state laws, administrative regulations and School Committee policies, as they apply to the school.10.Supervises and evaluates certified personnel assigned to the school according to the DESE Educator Evaluation System.11.Supervises and evaluates non-certified personnel assigned to the school according to collective bargaining agreements.12.Demonstrates fiduciary responsibility through effective development and management of the school budget and school activity funds.13.Effectively manages an efficient office and record-keeping systems.14.Encourages positive public relations within and outside the school.15.Interviews, recommends, and hires highly qualified staff members. 16.Exercises leadership necessary to make the school facility a safe, attractive, and productive place in which to learn and work.17.Responsible for promoting a responsive, orderly school climate that fosters high expectations and active engagement for all learners.18.Develops a fair and consistent system for student discipline.19.Maintains currency in education practices and invests in ones own professional development.20.Adheres to and maintains the standards of the schools accrediting agencies.21.Attends School Committee meetings, as required.22.Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated according to the DESE Educator Evaluation System
