Phoenix College (PC), the first public junior college in Arizona, welcomed its first students on September 13, 1920. In 1962, PC transitioned to a community college that is part of the Maricopa Community College District. Job Summary
The Development Officer oversees the process and induction of new alumni, donor and alumni engagement and recognition, and associated annual events, and maintains a prospect pool of donors to increase engagement and support for Phoenix College students and programs.
The person in this role identifies, cultivates and builds prospective and existing donor base; implements and maintains cultivation and stewardship programs; and collaborates and serves as a liaison with donors, alumni, volunteers, Foundation representatives and other stakeholders by providing program coordination and development support.
Essential Functions
45% - Develop and cultivate valuable relationships with individuals, organizations, foundations, and partners to secure philanthropic, grant, in-kind and/or other types of support for Phoenix College (PC) students and college/District programs; Identify new relationships to secure philanthropic gifts. Develop strategies to prospect, cultivate, solicit and grow donors for fundraising efforts; Adheres to fundraising, and alumni and donor engagement best practices; Advocates the college’s impact in the community, and secures commitments that advance the institution; Manage a portfolio of 25-50 prospects to develop and execute strategies leading to a solicitation; Contributes to achieving the revenue goals established by the College in collaboration with the Resource Development Council.
20% - Develops, plans and implements alumni, donor & friends engagement strategies, events, and communication.
15% - Coordinates promotional copy for various media platforms including website, email, on-air and social media networking sites; oversees various alumni & donor communication strategies and modalities.
10% - Maintains revenue and member database tracking system and generates and uses analytical reports.
5% - Provides professional level support and guidance to team members and volunteers related to Institutional Advancement activities.
5% - Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution in marketing, communications or related field and two (2) years of experience assisting with and/or coordinating stakeholder engagement and/or fundraising campaigns and activities.
Or
Associates Degree from a regionally accredited institution in marketing, communications or related field and four (4) years of experience assisting with and/or coordinating stakeholder engagement and/or fundraising campaigns and activities.
Or
High School Diploma or GED and six (6) years of experience assisting with and/or coordinating stakeholder engagement and/or fundraising campaigns and activities
Desired Qualifications
- Five (5) years or more of experience working in an Institutional Advancement role (development, alumni relations, marketing, public relations, and/or community relations).
- Five (5) years or more of experience working in any role at a college or university.
- Three (3) years or more of in a fundraising position / role.
- Five (5) years or more of experience creating student, alumni, donor, partner and/or friends (stakeholder) engagement strategies and communication.
- Three (3) years or more of experience using Raisers Edge Database.
- Experience using PeopleSoft or similar software to view data and student records.
- Experience using design software (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Canva, etc.).
Special Working Conditions
- May be required to work at multiple sites or locations.
- May be required to work evenings and weekends.
- May be required to lift or carry up to 25lbs.
- May be required to sit for a prolonged period of time; viewing a computer monitor.
