Job Summary:
The employee must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit. The Pharmacy Resident is responsible for performance of duties within an education/work environment. The Resident performs clinical and staff duties in the Inpatient areas. This is accomplished through the provision of appropriate drug therapy and clinical pharmaceutical services by reviewing patient orders and charts and by interacting with other appropriate healthcare providers as well as with patients themselves. The PGY2 resident is responsible for advanced knowledge in their specialty practice area and completing clinical work (i.e .research, protocol development, medication use evaluation) to advance hospital goals in this specialty field. Additionally, the PGY2 resident will occasionally be responsible for precepting pharmacy students and PGY1 pharmacy residents.

Department Position Summary:
The Pharmacy Resident will appropriately process all medication orders and follow procedures according to practice area. Responsibilities will include checking medication carts quickly and accurately as well as documenting any noted errors. Resident will show the ability to work well with a CRT screen, answer phones, and operate computers, printers, and calculators. Other responsibilities will be to provide drug information, educational in-services, prepare drug monographs for presentation to the P&T Committee, and conduct medication utilization evaluations (MUE's). The Pharmacy Resident will also be proficient and knowledgeable in reviewing, interpreting, entering, filling, and checking physician orders for medications, IV fluids, irrigation, and dialysis fluids. Resident will document any clinical interventions. Presentations to the pharmacy staff for continuing education credit will also be conducted. Resident will collect adverse drug reaction data, provide pharmaceutical care for patients on designated floors, and staff in the pharmacies throughout the hospital. These assignments will be conducted in an accurate and timely manner.
