Pharmacist Immunizer

Job Description

We have a rewarding opportunity to join our long-term care (LTC) pharmacist team as an hourly, part- time, COVID 19 vaccinator. In this role, you will be responsible for administering COVID19 vaccines in the eastern NC regions to residents/staff of long-term care facilities. These areas in include cities such as
Greenville, Goldsboro and New Bern. We typically vaccinate on Monday through Friday from 10 am to 4 pm. Other responsibilities may also include assist with registration, documentation, screening and observation. It is important for the vaccinating pharmacist to be able to respond to emergency situations and follow emergency management protocols in the event of an adverse vaccine reaction. We are offering $60 per hour including drive-time plus $0.655 per mile for mileage.

Essential Functions

• Work on-site at the long-term care vaccination sites. We will partner you with one of our lead vaccinators who will bring in the vaccine, supplies and personal protective equipement
• Review consent forms and patient records as needed to ensure proper care and correct vaccine administered with accurate documentation.
• Administer vaccine using proper technique and safety precautions.
• Provide post-vaccination observation as defined by clinical guidelines.
• Must be able to recognize and act on the signs and symptoms of adverse reactions to the vaccine.
• Must be knowledgeable about the action to be taken in the event of an emergency, including treatment of anaphylaxis and other medical emergencies.
• Be able to properly document and report onsite incidents and injuries.

Universal Precautions

• Assist with set up, break down, and clean-up of patient care areas
• Dispose biohazardous waste in the appropriate manner in the proper receptacles.
• Adhere to company policies and procedures
• Assist with non-clinical tasks and other activities as mutually agreed by the Parties.
• Must be able to travel within assigned region.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• BS in Pharmacy or PharmD degree from an accredited education institution
• Current Pharmacist license within a state
• Certified Immunizer (APhA etc…)
• Current Basic Life Support certification with documentation (we can assist if you need to update this component)
• Hepatitis B Statement – All Immunizers must complete a Hep B Virus Statement or declination
• Fully vaccinated from COVID19 (or ability to get vaccinated before start date)
• Ability and willingness to work onsite at assigned location
• Ability to speak, read and write English
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism
• Maintain a valid driver’s license and a personal vehicle for work use

• Ability to prioritize workload, set and meet deadlines

• Ability to follow directions given by assigned vaccine coordinator to ensure the needs of the program are being met.

• Ability to show empathy to distressed individuals

Working Conditions

• The job environment is onsite at various designated off-site clinic.
• Travel through the assigned region will be required.
• Routinely there may be some minor physical inconveniences or discomforts in the work setting, including sitting for moderate periods of time, prolonged standing, and repetitive wrist motion.
• The job environment can be intense as high volume, repetitive work is an expectation.
