Summary
Cares for pediatric patients referred by the primary care provider, then returns care of the patient to the primary care physician at the time of discharge. The hospitalist is responsible for managing the care of pediatric inpatients and works collaboratively with nurse case and care managers, care coordinators, consulting and primary care physicians and other facility-based healthcare professionals who comprise the patients care team. Our dedicated pediatric intensive care, pediatric inpatient unit, NICU and thriving multispecialty clinic are all co-located at our flagship campus in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Our comprehensive program also includes Child Life services, who provide activities, socialization, therapy and other services for children and families.
- Thriving multispecialty clinic setting provides pediatric cardiology, endocrinology, ENT, gastroenterology, nephrology, neurology, surgery, behavioral medicine, pulmonology, hematology/oncology, chronic care, and radiology services.
- 24x7 hospitalist services provide 116 beds combined among NICU, PICU and pediatric unit
- Pediatric urgent care clinics, staffed with pediatricians and pediatric nurses to care for ill children.
- Systemwide EPIC electronic medical record system

Pediatric Hospitalist to join our team.

The hospitalist is responsible for managing the care of pediatric inpatients and works collaboratively with nurse case and care managers, care coordinators, consulting and primary care physicians and other facility-based healthcare professionals who comprise the patients care team. Responsibilities
- Oversees and is accountable for the overall quality of care and clinical outcomes within the assigned facilities.
- Oversees and is accountable for all resource utilization within the assigned facilities.
- Ensure both patient and provider satisfaction and develop plans for improvement.
- Provides input into the hospitalist teams financial, clinical, and service quality performance; budget; capital plan; and personnel issues.
- Organize, attend and facilitate daily care team meetings within the assigned facility.
- Attend and participate in all regular scheduled hospitalist meetings
- Attend and participate in requested QI, Peer Review and Care Management meetings.
- Attend and participate in Sub-specialist/Medical group meetings as requested.
- Provide real time feedback to PCPs regarding clinical and operational guidelines to optimize patient care and clinical efficiency.
- Maintain coding and encounter data standards for completeness, accuracy, timeliness and reimbursement level., including legible documentation
- Meet and maintain all provider credentialling and QI standards.
- Participate in the development, adoption, and implementation process for clinical standards for inpatient care.
- Knowledgeable of the contents of The Hospitalist Manual: An Evidence-Based Approach to Medicine.
- Work with the Medical Director to assure proper provider staffing, including vacation coverage.
- Mentor and educate all new Pediatric Hospitalists on PMG s service standards.
- Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, literature review, in-services, and workshops.
- Performs other functions as required.
