Position Summary
Payroll Coordinator processes and manages complex transactions ensuring all employees are paid in an accurate, timely, and cost-efficient manner in compliance with College policies and governmental regulations. Provides Payroll related information and consultative solutions to employees and administrators to solve urgent problems and advance college goals and objectives .
Payroll Coordinator utilizes payroll accounting and benefits principles in providing supports in the payroll related information to supervisors, administrators, faculty, and employees for the purpose of delivering effective services for three WA State Colleges: Bellevue College, Everett Community College, and Skagit Valley College.
Pay, Benefits & Work Schedule
Position Salary Range: $41,844/year - $55,752/year
The salary will be determined based on candidate's qualifications and related experience. Individuals newly hired to Classified position are placed in a salary range based on the WPEA Collective Bargaining Agreement.
We offer comprehensive compensation package with salary and benefits as the main components. Competitive salary is within the Range stated above, and commensurate with qualifications and experience. The employee is scheduled to work 40 hours per workweek. This is a Classified, overtime eligible position and represented by the Washington Public Employee Association of Higher Education (WPEA-HE).

About the Department
The Payroll Department processes and manages complex transactions ensuring all employees are paid in an accurate, timely, and cost efficient manner in compliance with College policies and governmental regulations. Provides information and consultative solutions to employees and administrators to solve urgent problems today and advance college goals and objectives.
Essential Functions
Processes semi-monthly payroll and schedules payroll related processing and activities
Works with records and reports in ctcLink to process payroll and payroll related activity. Functions include add/modify employee payroll files, add/modify contracts, manually add or upload employee hours, process retro payments and adjustments.
Calculates and processes complex payroll deductions including taxes, garnishments, and employees benefits.
Processes and manages complex transactions ensuring all employees paid accurately and on time.
Runs specialized reports through ctcLink.
Analyzes and identifies problems with data transmission from Time and Labor to Payroll Module in ctcLink.
Process timekeeping and leave records
Uses ctcLink Time and Labor to assist employees in creating schedules and timesheets.
Calculates hours/overtime hours to process exceptions and audit system calculations.
Processes high volumes of data quickly and accurately to meet strict deadlines.
Reconciles payroll inputs and calculations to ensure high quality output.
Proofs high volumes of data quickly and accurately to meet strict deadlines.
Assists in the development for the new business processes and with college employees' adoption and use of the PeopleSoft application.
Applies payroll policies and procedures
Interprets and applies appropriate payroll and benefits laws, rules, regulations, policies, procedures and applicable bargaining agreements.
Works with the payroll staff, finance, and other department personnel on work flow related issues and problem resolution.
Issues instructions on payroll procedures and conducts payroll processing training for temporary staff and broader campus community as necessary.
Assists clients with navigating complex or sensitive issues, keeping the client's best interests in mind and advising on best practices.
Conducts Semi-monthly Payroll reconciliation
Reconciles payroll reports and ensures accuracy with any requirements.
Completes Payroll Balancing and submits the information for tax payments.
Performs related duties as required/assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate degree or equivalent education/experience
A minimum of three (3) years of fiscal or payroll experience or equivalent related combination of education/experience
Intermediate skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
Effective communication skills
Experience working in a collaborative team environment with diverse employees and student/customer groups
Preferred Qualifications
Completed Payroll related PeopleSoft training (HCM/PR100 Payroll; HCM/TL100 Time & Labor; HCM: ES100 Employee Self-Service)
Working experience with PeopleSoft/ctcLink
