Do you want to join a friendly, supportive team, and use your expertise in teaching reading to support individual students on your own schedule, without having to handle running a business yourself?The Joy of Learning is hiring experienced Reading Tutors and Multisensory Math tutors to teach in person in the Broomfield/Westminster area. We are looking for tutors throughout the region, but individual tutors can work in a specific area and are not required to travel to all locations throughout the entire region.
Pay is $45-60 per session to start depending on training and experience. Tutors will work with students 1-1, in their homes or nearby libraries, and are expected to lesson plan and provide any additional materials needed for their sessions.
The Joy of Learning provides an extensive resource library of teaching materials, professional development opportunities, and liability insurance. We also handle marketing and pair tutors with students who are a good fit for their expertise, and handle billing and admin. Tutors get paid via direct deposit every 2 weeks.
Note that this position involves building up a caseload over time, and it may take several weeks before your first student starts, and may be months before you have a full caseload.
Required Qualifications:
Demonstrated training and experience teaching structured literacy and/or Orton Gillingham.
(Optional) Training and experience teaching multisensory math to students with dyslexia is a bonus.
Training and experience teaching students with dyslexia, ADHD, and/or other diverse learning profiles.
Willingness to do individualized lesson planning for each student and provide any needed materials (note that we have a lot of materials available that can be printed, and that student's can also be asked to purchase small consumable materials such as workbooks.)
Skill at building connections and positive rapport with kids and families and maintaining a high level of professionalism.
Punctual, reliable, and able to make a firm commitment to at least 4-6 hours per week, (which could build up to 15- 20 hours per week over several months, if desired) starting in the summer and continuing through the 2023/24 school year (longer availability is even better).
Reliable transportation and availability to meet with students in person during after school hours in the selected region of Broomfield/Westminster.
