JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The Academic Support Center at Penn State Mont Alto is seeking applicants for a Part-Time Disability Specialist.
The position will be trained in all areas of disability services and will be responsible for assisting the Academic Support Center director in providing support for students with documented disabilities and bringing awareness and education to the campus community regarding individuals who are living with visible and non-visible disabilities.
Awareness in the areas of mental health, ADHD, and autism will be prevalent for this position to assist students who may or may not be registered with student disability resources to better understand how to manage these conditions.
The ideal candidate should be student-centered and have a strong understanding of working with a diverse student body. The position is funded for approximately 20 hours a week during the academic year with the need for some weekend and summer availability. This opening is available to start after July 1, 2023 and will remain open until filled. The position is funded for 2-year with strong possibility of refunding.
Requirements and Qualifications
Minimum qualifications:
1+ years related experience, Bachelor’s Degree or higher in psychology, special education, disability studies, or related field
Experience working with students from a variety of backgrounds
Preferred qualifications:
Graduate coursework
Experience working in higher education
