Shady Grove Pediatric Dentistry

Our mission is to provide gentle and compassionate dental care for children, and to instill a positive attitude towards oral health from an early age. Our goal is to form genuine partnerships with parents and guardians, and to always have open and honest communication. We provide minimally-invasive methods for fillings, crowns, and treating cavities with silver diamine fluoride. We aim to address root causes of oral and dental problems, which is why we offer HealthyStart appliance therapy.

Our vision includes community impact. For each new patient we see at Shady Grove Pediatric Dentistry, we sponsor a gift to a sick child through our partnership with the Hope for Henry Foundation (hopeforhenry.org).

Pediatric Dental Office Hygienist

Our office was built and created by a mother of young kids with a vision to provide kind, compassionate and minimally invasive dental care to children in Montgomery County. We opened our doors on June 29, 2020 (during the pandemic!), and we are ready to welcome a 2nd rock-star hygienist to join our fantastic and dedicated team.

We are a new & modern (digital/paperless) PRIVATELY-OWNED pediatric dental office approaching our 3 year anniversary and are looking for a part-time hygienist (2-3 days) to join our close-knit work family. The current team exists of Dr. Bana Ball (board-certified pediatric dentist and founder), and 3 friendly team members: 1 chair-side assistant, 1 patient care coordinator, and 1 RDH. You will not be joining a high volume corporate style office with a crazy schedule and employees who are just "cogs in the wheel". Our schedule is designed to foster building relationships with the children and their parents.

You will need to have an adventurous spirit to enjoy this job! Please only apply if you are up for the challenge of giving your very best every day and have a growth mindset with a "can-do attitude". It's ok to make mistakes as long as you own up to them and learn from them.

We are still very much in a start-up growth phase, so every team member will be expected to roll up their sleeves and pitch in to keep things running smoothly. A "this isn't my responsibility attitude" won't be compatible with our dynamic.

Previous experience in a pediatric dental office is preferred, but not required. New hygiene school grads will also be considered, as long as they show outstanding potential and have a mature demeanor. We are looking for someone motivated and eager to learn new skills and grow with the practice. This is a great opportunity for anyone looking to grow their skill set and is excited by learning new things. You must be able to learn new things quickly and have naturally good “emotional intelligence”.

Being a great hygienist in a pediatric dental office requires a different skill set and focus than working in a perio office or a general dentistry office. What makes a hygienist excellent in the pediatric field is being able to connect with children and their parents. We have set a high bar in our office, and we want to continue our tradition of providing a "wow" experience.

We are not a high volume office and value building relationships and spending time with our patients, especially at initial visits, so our schedule is built around this concept. You will not be jumping from chair to chair to be a "cleaning machine".

• Maryland x-ray certification license
• N20 certification is a plus
• Annual vaccinations (flu + COVID)

Salary will be determined based on incoming skill set and previous experience. Additional perks include:
