Job Summary


The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for Outdoor Pursuits Staff - Institutional Student Worker on the Dahlonega campus. The University of North Georgia - Dahlonega is seeking qualified, competent applicants for the position of Outdoor Pursuits Staff for the Department of Recreational Sports. The position is housed within the Outdoor Pursuits Program and will be under the supervision of the Outdoor Pursuits Program Supervisor. The position is also a part of the Division of Student Affairs. The position is for student employees and is limited to a maximum of 20 hours per week. A uniform is required but is provided.

Applicants must attend staff trainings/meetings;
Have a willingness to work flexible hours of at least 5-8 hours per week;
In addition to the 5-8 hours a week, with some hours varying based on season and reservations,
Applicants must also be willing to work special events, clinics, and trips.

Responsibilities

  • Outdoor Pursuits Staff oversee and spend time working in or at an equipment rental office, climbing wall, Pine Valley Challenge Course;
  • Provide high quality customer service to patrons/participants;
  • Provide a welcoming and inclusive environment to patrons;
  • Supervise Outdoor Pursuits areas (climbing wall, equipment rental office, and Pine Valley);
  • Enforce all policies and procedures;
  • Utilize Microsoft Office applications;
  • Log usage, maintain, clean, organize, and repair equipment;
  • Responds to emergencies in a tactful manner; work special events, clinics, or trips as needed.


Knowledge, Skils, & Abilities

  • Applicants must exhibit effective organizational and leaderships skills as well as strong communication skills;
  • Applicants should have an enthusiastic and professional approach to the occupation;
  • Applicants must have the ability to pass a written and practical exam (training provided);
  • Applicants must prove to either have or be able to learn a base knowledge in knot tying, belaying and technical rope skills needed to safely facilitate others.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled at the University of North Georgia in a minimum of six (6) credit hours to qualify as a student worker.
