Job Summary
Individual will work under the general direction of pediatric registered dietitians to prepare specialty infant formula and additives. In compliance with the Departmental policies and procedures, this individual contributes to the provision of optimal nutritional care of the patients at the University of Chicago Hospitals.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Formula/Human Milk Technician Certificate Preferred
Training and Experience:
- Experience in health care, customer service, food service, or lab work preferred
Knowledge and Skills:
- Ability to work as a team player to accomplish optimal patient care by providing superior nutrition services.
- Good communication skills to interact with patients and staff.
- Good knowledge of basic food safety and aseptic mixing procedures with measuring equipment
- Good knowledge of record keeping practices.
- Successful completion of core technician competencies and subsequent yearly competencies.
- Considerable skill in working with attention to detail.
- Considerable verbal communications skills.
- Familiar with computers and keyboard usage.
- Adept at math calculations
- Sensitivity to patient care issues as they pertain to the practice of nutrition
