Plate Mounter/Ink Assistant position is on a 12 hour shift, 2, 2, 3, rotation. Night shift earns a shift differential of $2.00/hr and weekend differential of $1.50/hr for Saturdays and Sundays in addition to base hourly rate. We are hiring for 1 position on night shift (7pm-7am)

$1,500 signing bonus payable at 6- and 12- months of continuous employment.

Summary

The Plate Mounter/Ink Assistant position mounts printing plates according to the printing order specifications, using precise measurements and time management to ensure the quality of the production flow. The plate mounter/ink assistant is able to understand and verify order specifications of each order.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem from time to time.

• Responsible for set-up and mounting of Flexo plates
• Responsible for quality control in the negatives, raw materials, printing plates, mounting tape, and cylinders
• Responsible for Optical Mounting, proofing, Quality Control, sewing, and shipping
• Read and understand the communication book, in order to plan the work shift according to the operators’ instructions.
• Stage ink for print jobs
• Read and understand the print dockets
• Understanding of the ink computer for mixing PMS colors
• Understanding of DNR requirements
• Ability to do ink draw downs
• Control and reduce ink inventory
• Use of production reporting system to ensure accuracy of data and labels.
• Receive and properly store and maintain cleanliness of plates
• Evaluate quality of image on the plate.
• Keep accurate records of time and materials used for each job.
• Notify supervisor of need for replacement plates for damaged or worn plates.
• Complies with established facility safety policies and procedures and other regulations (IE: GMP, HAACP, SQF) as applicable.
• 5S and housekeeping
• Participate in continuous improvement projects.
• Expand knowledge on print lines (and other equipment) through experience.
• Be able to operate in a team environment through proper communication and assisting each other during all steps of operation.

• Maintain all equipment, as required
• Other duties as assigned.

Education and /or Experience

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• One to three months related experience and/or training.
• Experience working inks or plates in a flexographic printing operation are a plus
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
• Mathematical ability necessary.
• Ability to work various shifts.
• Basic computer skills required.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. Employees are required to wear hearing protection, safety glasses, and safety shoes.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Pulls hand trucks to lift and move 500lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Employee is working in an environment of fast moving equipment.
