Under general supervision of the Program Director at the UCLA Area Service Center (ASC), California Newborn Screening Program (NBS), you will coordinate care and follow up for positives and non-positive Newborn Screening referrals including inadequate and incomplete (initial & recall specimens), optional TPN related follow up, optional hemoglobin follow-up, transfusion verification and early collection NBS cases. You will interpret State regulations, policies and procedures for perinatal facilities and providers to ensure compliance with the Regulations. In this role, you will also function as team leader for facility site visits located in the counties of San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Ventura, and Los Angeles. You will assess educational needs of assigned facilities and collaborates in the creation/maintenance of educational materials for the ASC as assigned. You will be responsible for providing in-services, presentations (including online) and other training on NBS Program for health care professionals, community agencies and parent/public groups. You will initiate and assist families in the referral process to the special care center for diagnosis and treatment and follows through on positive NBS cases to ensure that affected babies receive required specialty care. Salary Range: $67,404-$133,404

Qualifications

* Minimum two years of recent clinical experience in Pediatrics, Maternal/Child health, Neonatal or public health. * Ability to use computer equipment, office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.) and experience in charting or case management. * Applicant/staff must possess a valid CA driver’s license and a registered and insured vehicle for operation to and from mandated site visits in Los Angeles, Ventura, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties. * Ability to fly/travel to and from GDSP All-staff State Annual Meetings and stay overnight in a hotel as required * Ability to work on-call over weekends and/or holidays as assigned. Minimum once per month. * Self-directed with ability to work independently while collaborating with an interdisciplinary team. Client/customer service focused, ability to effectively interact with pediatricians, clinics, specialty care centers and families. * Excellent written and oral communication required. Skilled in office automation procedures. Preferred: * Registered nurse in the state of California with a bachelor’s degree in nursing, BSN or Master’s Degree in Public Health or related field with two years of Newborn Screening experience as a Program Specialist with a registered certification. * RN with an active, valid license as a registered nurse in the State of California. * Case management/utilization management, health education and/or discharge planning experience a plus. Knowledge of CCS desired. Bi-lingual/Spanish a plus.
