Job description

As Network Service Delivery Engineer you will be part of our Network Service Engineering department. You will ensure a smooth and efficient operation, support & automation of our customers delivering IP/MPLS & DWDM backbone including all related BSS & OSS. You will be responsible for continuously improving existing services & developing new services in close collaboration with Product Management.


Your responsibilities

  • Development and optimization of automation tools, self-service portal solutions as well as monitoring and analysis tools.

  • EMEA-wide optimization and expansion of active network infrastructures (Juniper, Ciena & more)

  • Configuration and operation of high-end switches, routers, firewalls, DWDM and Linux systems

  • Contribute to the implementation of new network services and designs

  • Preparation of technical documentation, presentations and training material for colleagues and customers

  • Sales support / presales activities – help clients find the right solution.

  • Participation and technical support of customer-specific projects

  • Compliance with incident and change management processes

  • Provision of all services of our connectivity portfolio within the framework of the agreed SLAs


Your profile

  • Studies in the field of information processing, completed training as IT specialist (m/f/d) or several years of relevant professional experience

  • At least 5 years of professional experience in the data centre, cloud or telecommunications environment

  • Very good knowledge of network protocols like ISIS, BGP, MPLS

  • Extensive knowledge in dealing with public IP addresses, autonomous systems (AS), RIPE database and DNS

  • Experience in operating highly available applications using virtualized and/or container-based environments, e.g. proxmox, KVM (libvirt), Kubernetes, Docker

  • Experience with Linux-based services like DNS Resolvers, IPFIX/Netflow data retention, visualization, and usage

  • Very good knowledge in the integration of network and application monitoring systems, such as CheckMK, Icinga or similar

  • In-depth linux & programming knowledge e.g. Shell Scripting, Python, Bash and Ruby

  • Automation with ansible – Linux and Networks

  • Entrepreneurial & First Principals Thinking

  • Ability to work in a team, high level of commitment, resilience, and flexibility

  • Independent, reliable, and analytical way of working, based on ITIL processes

  • Very good knowledge of written and spoken English
