Behind the Wheel Trainer (BTW)/Relief Operator
Transdev U.S. has an exciting opportunity for a Behind the Wheel Relief Operator.

This role requires 100% travel. Successful candidates become trainer certified by TAPCO.


This unique opportunity pays $28.00-$32.00 per hour with an added per diem. Hotel stays are provided (for travel over 60 miles or 1 hour.) Health benefits are not included with this position.


Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct services for local GMs and Safety Managers in need of BTW, Classroom, or Closed Course Training support
  • Perform work as a relief driver in instance of operator
  • Trains operators to arrive and sign in on time; working hours as scheduled; wear clean, neat uniforms; act as a professional operator
  • Trains operators on picking up and discharging passengers at designated bus stops safely, regulating heating and ventilating equipment on the bus for the comfort of passengers
  • Trains operators on fare collection procedures; guarding against fare/transfer abuse
  • Trains operators on reporting all accidents, incidents, or unusual occurrences to dispatch office immediately; submitting written reports on accidents, incidents or unusual occurrences as required
  • Trains operators to accurately complete ll reports
  • Trains operators to follow rules and regulations of the Company Trains operators to adheres to all regulations related to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA); correctly operates wheelchair lift with proper safety restraints as requested by the customer
  • Trains operators to provide transit information to passengers as needed
  • Other duties as required
Qualifications:
  • Must be 21 years or older
  • Must have a good driving record
  • Previous bus or other heavy-duty vehicle driving experience preferred
  • Minimum of 1.5 years of operator or training experience required


Education, Licensing, and Certifications
:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, such as GED
  • Must possess a valid Class B or higher Commercial driver’s license
  • Driver's License with Passenger Endorsement and Air Brake Endorsement


Skills and Knowledge:


  • Good motor skills, hearing, and accurate color perception
  • Ability to apply proper driving procedures
  • Ability to learn transit routes and schedules and adapt to changes; ability to read a map
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret transit system operating rules, regulations, policies, and routes
  • Ability to assist handicapped passengers when needed
  • Basic math and writing skills
  • Good communication skills

  • Testing related to job requirements

Physical Requirements:


  • Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed
  • Primarily seated in vehicle; stress caused by passengers and traffic
  • Must be able to work in all types of weather
  • Lifting, pulling and pushing are among the physical requirements of performing work in this position. Specific required limits of weight are determined by location site
