The Worcester Recovery Center and Hospital is seeking a Motor Equipment Mechanic II with Class 2B or higher Hoisting and Class B CDL. The Motor Equipment Mechanic repairs motor vehicles and grounds equipment and assists the supervisor in the daily operation of Garage and Grounds department. In addition, maintains repair records and preventative maintenance records for MVMB, orders gas, diesel fuel and repair parts, supervises snow removal operation, maintains inventory of tools and mechanical equipment, drives cars, vans, trucks and heavy equipment and performs manual labor as necessary, such as moving furniture and supplies.

Please Note: The hours for this position is full-time, 40 hours per week. The schedule is 7:30 am. 4:00 pm with Saturday and Sunday off.

Duties and Responsibilities (these are a general summary and not all-inclusive):

  • Repairs, replaces, or rebuilds gas or diesel engines
  • Repairs grounds equipment to provide safe operation
  • Inspects vehicles for Mass inspection and makes repairs for safe operation
  • Maintains inventory of tools and equipment and orders when necessary
  • Maintains repair records and preventive maintenance records for MVMB
  • Assists Supervisor in daily operation of Garage & Grounds
  • Completes time logs and purchase orders when supervisor is out
  • Completes monthly vehicle reports and submits on time
  • Supervises snow removal operations
  • Orders gas, diesel fuel and parts.
  • Instructs employees in safe operation of equipment

Preferred qualifications:

  • Bilingual or multilingual fluency. Candidates must be able to read, write and otherwise communicate in English. ASL preferred.

About Worcester Recovery Center and Hospital (WRCH):

Located on over 100 acres in Worcester, Massachusetts, Worcester Recovery Center and Hospital (WRCH) is part of an integrated network of effective, efficient and culturally competent mental health services. It provides intermediate and long-term inpatient care for individuals with serious and persistent mental illness who live in Massachusetts, as well as individuals requiring specialized court ordered evaluations.

WRCH provides inpatient services to 290 adults, inclusive of a Deaf Inpatient Mental Health Service, and 30 adolescents on the ACCU.

Qualifications

Minimum Entrance Requirements:

Applicants must have at least (A) two years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, experience in the repair, maintenance and overhaul of automotive equipment such as automobiles, trucks, bulldozers, cranes, front end loaders, etc. or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below.

Substitutions:

A certificate or diploma from a recognized trade, technical or vocational school, at the high school level or above, with a major in automotive shop practice may be substitution for one year of the required (A) experience.

Special Requirements: Based on assignment:

1. Possession of a current and valid Massachusetts Class B Motor Vehicle Operator's License.

2. Possession of a current and valid Massachusetts Class 2B hoisting license.
