Under the supervision of the Meter Reading Supervisor, the Meter Reader Aide provides operational support to the Meter Reading team. The Meter Reader Aide is responsible for assisting with the reading of retail meter accounts, and various other duties as assigned. In return, the Meter Reader Aide will receive hands-on exposure to the inner workings of a Customer Service Water Utility Meter Reading Department.

• Reading retail meters on a scheduled basis utilizing various tools and equipment.
• Registering Meter readings in a handheld meter reading device.
• Driving an Authority vehicle, utilizing maps to locate various water meters to be read.

• Ability to walk long distances and work in all weather conditions.
• Ability to continually bend and lift meters lids up to 35 pounds.
• Ability to overcome physical barriers, such as climbing through brush, getting off and on a truck mounted meter reading platform.
• Ability to work independently and exercise good judgement.
• Basic computer skills and ability to learn meter reading software applications.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
• Enrolled as a full-time student at a college, university, or trade school for the upcoming fall to qualify for the program.
• Possess a valid driver's license in good standing.
• Pass a background investigation and pre-employment drug screening.
• Specific safety requirements.
