Medical Payment Poster
Fellow Health Partners is seeking a representative with current working experience in medical billing. This position is based out of our Great River, NY (East Islip area) office.
Primary Responsibilities
- Ensure payments are posted and processed in a timely manner;
- Payments processed include live check, electronic transfers, credit card lockboxes, GL transfers, copayments and payment made at the office;
- Review all payments to ensure accuracy;
- Participate in the month end process and client reconciliation on a daily, weekly and monthly basis;
- Ensure all protocols for the appropriate clients are created, maintained and observed;
- Participate in special projects;
- Process and review all payments in accordance with fee schedules where available;
- Ensure that all payments receive on CPT codes which have modifiers, multiple frequencies appended are paid correctly;
- Work in conjunction with A/R, Charge Posting, and EDI and Intake departments to process payments more efficiently.
Skills / Qualifications
- Graduate of Health Insurance Specialist Certificate or Degree program preferred OR High School Diploma with equivalent of one year of experience in health care insurance OR High School Diploma with billing office experience;
- Detailed working knowledge and demonstrated proficiency in at least one insurance company’s billing and/or collection process;
- Excellent organizational skills;
- Ability to multi task in a timely manner;
- Proficient uses of computerized registration and billing systems and personal computers, including spreadsheet and word processing software applications.
- Ability to proactively problem solve issues;
- Knowledge of third party operating procedures, regulations, and billing requirements as well as government reimbursement programs.
- Accounting Principles, Basic Office Skills required; advanced office skill are preferred.
- Strong communication skills;
- Must be able to be present in the last week of every month plus the first two business days of the following month;
- Knowledge of EOB’s, copay/coinsurance/deductibles, denial codes, insurance allowable, adjustments, write offs, and data entry skills preferred.
Education/Experience
- Minimum 1 year of current working experience
- Current/Recent working experience in anesthesia billing essential
- Knowledge of CPT and ICD-10
- Experience using Electronic Billing Systems, and Provider portals essential
