We’re growing rapidly and we’re seeking a Medical Assistant for our Otology provider, primarily focused at our Broadway office, located in Kansas City, MO but travel to our Merriam and Lee's Summit locations would be required at times.

Our Medical Assistants are at the heart of our patient care, ensuring a positive, quality patient clinical experience through education of patients and families, collaboration with physicians and staff, and ensuring detailed documentation and recording it in the EMR.

As a Medical Assistant, you would perform a variety of tasks in support of daily operations, including but not limited to:

  • Manage the full patient experience after checking in. Ensure the patient receives the proper resources needed following the appointment with the provider. Help ensure that Ascentist makes a positive and professional impact on all patients, visitors, referral sources and other members of the public.
  • Provide a high level of professional support and assistance to all patients, Ascentist Physicians, Providers, and staff. This includes, and is not limited to managing patient cases, providing demonstration and education when called upon, networking with local and external resources on the patients behalf, and working with insurance companies and referral groups to ensure patients receive the highest quality of care.
  • Ensure the back office and trafficked areas are clean, well maintained and support a professional environment for all who visit.
  • Enhance the day-to-day operations of Ascentist for callers and visitors by being aware and informed about what’s happening in the company in order to accurately respond to or direct inquiries from the patients, Physicians, Providers, staff, visitors and the general public.
  • Support and affect the goodwill of the company within the community. Perform all functions and duties consistent with the general policies & practices of the organization at all times.
  • Support each member of the organization to help improve processes every day, enhancing patient outcomes and creating a better patient experience efficiently and effectively.
  • Develop and ensure effective, positive relationships within and among the Ascentist Physicians, Providers and staff, as well as with members of the public/visitors.
  • Ensure compliance and attention to all organization policies and procedures.
  • Develops and maintains an effective working relationship with patients, families, visitors, and staff. Act as liaison between patient friends/family and clinical staff as needed.
  • Documents concisely, precisely, and accurately on all records or documents as indicated by policy.
  • Maintains confidentiality of patient and Center related business.
  • Regular, physical attendance on a predictable basis is essential to the performance of this job.
  • Assists in both day-to-day and special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
  • Maintains a cooperative relationship within and among teams by communicating information and participating in team problem-solving methods.
  • Maintains knowledge of and comply with established policies and procedures.
  • Participates in department and clinic meetings as well as professional development activities.
  • Understands HIPAA regulations and maintains the strictest confidentiality at all times. Has read and understands the company’s HIPAA Privacy Policy.
  • Complies with all regulatory requirements including OSHA, HIPAA, Ascentist Policies and Procedures and Ascentist Employee Handbook.
  • Works within a team to perform this role, cross train, support other team members in their task and performing other job-related duties as assigned/necessary.

Qualifications

Education, Experience & Certifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must possess a minimum of two years substantially similar work experience in a medical practice setting, working as a medical assistant
  • Ability to maintain clinical skills and certifications.
  • CPR or BLS certification
  • Must comply with all regulatory requirements including OSHA, HIPAA, Ascentist Policies and Procedures and Ascentist Employee Handbook

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Demonstrates proven communication skills with the ability to convey written and verbal information accurately and effectively
  • Demonstrates effective listening skills, taking the time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate and refraining from interrupting until appropriate
  • Ability to compose, type and assemble information in proper business form, including the ability to type at least 40 words per minute
  • Proven ability to work concurrently on multiple projects with varying priorities in a fast paced, dynamic environment
  • Proven record in attendance, demonstration of reliability and dependability in prior roles
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
  • Demonstrates effective time management with the ability to plan and organize work, adjust schedule and duties as requested and work overtime as needed
  • Demonstrates a high level of motivation, accountability, and ownership,
  • Demonstrates discretion and excellent judgement with the ability to solve problems creatively
  • Demonstrates friendly, personal, and timely customer service skills
  • Demonstrates proficiency using computer, software, and Internet Technologies (Outlook, Word, Excel, Internet Explorer, Windows)
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively use general office equipment including phones, fax machines, copiers, and other similar office technology on a regular basis
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain accuracy and attention to detail in an ever-changing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality in performance of essential functions
  • Demonstrated ability to speak, read, write, and understand English, as the primary language of patients calling and requesting information and/or services from the organization.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
  • Understanding of and ability to comply with all regulatory requirements including OSHA, HIPAA, Ascentist Policies and Procedures and Ascentist Employee Handbook

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience working in the specialty of Pain Management.
  • Ability to speak and understand other languages.
