Material Program Manager

We have an exciting opportunity for a Material Program Manager who will be able to exert influence and have an effect on the overall objectives and long-range goals of the program. The successful candidate will work cross-functionally to accurately capture material demand, maintain real-time visibility into supply sources and levels, and drive material requirements planning to inform procurement strategy and operations.


Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with procurement, engineering, manufacturing, and test organizations to derive material demand from up-to-date (Bills of Materials) BOMs and schedules that will drive material requirement plans and priorities across multiple programs.
  • Develop and execute material program plans, subcontract management plans.
  • Execute make/buy/where process.
  • Develop material allocation strategies/models for constrained or at-risk materials based on company priorities and supply conditions.
  • Quantify material forecasts that will inform procurement’s medium- and long-term material acquisition strategies.
  • Work closely with Engineering, Quality and Operations to create common schedule based on Material Requirements Planning (MRP).
  • Monitor performance metrics and proactively acts to address program and functional issues.
  • Architect Materials Requirements Planning (MRP) systems and processes within Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) that will ultimately increase automation and fidelity of end-to-end planning operations.
  • Collaborate with supply chain functions for support as needed.

Relevant Experience and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (BA or BS) in Business Management, Engineering Management, Industrial Management, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Operations, Finance/Economics, or similar.
  • 5+ years of experience in a material planning role within a fast-paced manufacturing, supply chain, and/or engineering environment.
  • 2+ years of experience in material planning, inventory management, purchasing, or a related position.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and supply chain management.
  • Experience converting business area and customer requirements into executable strategies.
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Intermediate user with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Project, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong Program and Budget Management skills.
  • Must have excellent people skills, ability to handle diverse personalities and able to work across departmental lines effectively.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Work experience in Supply Chain within the Aerospace Defense industry
  • Knowledge of US Government acquisition laws and regulations
  • Experience leading and support prime proposal efforts
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification or EVMS, Earned Value certification

Travel Requirements:

  • Local interoffice travel expected (25 miles one-way) during setup of new facility (in Newbury Park, CA) and shutdown of old (in Simi Valley, CA)
  • Occasional local and national travel as needed

Employment Criteria:

Pay: Salary $105,000 to $150,000
depending on candidate qualifications
