Riley Construction Co., Inc. is seeking an experienced Mason Foreman to join our team in a field position. This individual would work at various job sites through southeastern WI and northern IL and be based out of the Kenosha, WI office.
The Mason Foreman is responsible for the coordination of construction activities at a project site with respect to manpower, subcontractors, budgets, schedules, plans and specifications and policies and procedures. Supervises and coordinates activities on a job site, including ordering equipment, material, and manpower, as well as prompt and accurate completion of various reports and paperwork. The liaison between field personnel, office personnel, the owner or customer and subcontractors. Responsible for the coordination of all construction activities at a project site with respect to manpower, subcontractors, budgets, schedules, plans and specifications and policies and procedures. The Mason Foreman will directly supervise 4 - 6 employees.
Responsibilities: (Include, but not limited to)
- Assist project management in pre-construction planning. Including developing and implementing project procedures, construction documents, detailed work schedules, labor required, job budget, etc.
- Coordinates procurement of tools, equipment, labor, and materials to be delivered at specified times to align with work schedules. Prepares and/or reviews reports on material, equipment and labor used and cost associated with and adjusts work schedules appropriately.
- Schedules manpower daily through constant contact with field superintendents and foremen. Dispatches tradespeople daily to their work assignments. Reviews status reports prepared by project personnel and modifies the labor schedule or workplan appropriately.
- Consults with supervisory and engineering personnel, inspectors, and suppliers of tools and materials to resolve construction problems, improve construction methods, outline a workplan and assign duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority to personnel.
- Coordinates field equipment and material needs. Anticipate when an equipment or material need arises. Works closely with equipment and material vendors and solicits bids to maintain cost effective controls on field equipment and material.
- Ensure risk management goals are met including but not limited to meeting or exceeding the project budget, quality, and safety goals. Maintains labor & equipment cost control, order, safety, and cleanliness on the job site, including weekly toolbox talks.
- Attend, participate, and occasionally run project meetings such as weekly job safety and progress meetings. Provide support or assist in production studies when needed.
- Consult with, coordinate, and direct supervisory personnel and subcontractors engaged in planning and executing work procedures, interpreting specifications, and organizing various phases of construction to prevent delays. Coordinates RCCI daily work.
- Oversees all the construction aspects throughout the duration of a building project, including post construction reviews once the project is completed. Meets regularly with Superintendent/FM to identify, understand, and eliminate project constraints.
- This includes working with supervisory personnel, human resources, and labor representatives to resolve complaints and grievances within the workforce.
- Inspects work in progress to ensure that workmanship conforms to specifications and the adherence to construction schedules.
- Prompt and accurate completion of various reports and paperwork, including daily logs, work tickets and timecards.
- Possesses a solid understanding of all accounting practices related to a project. Assists accounting department in any situation dealing with proper coding and matching of work performed with a vendor service provided or materials. Approve, reject, renegotiate invoices and billings in a timely manner.
- Confers with project personnel to provide technical advice and engages in problem solving methodology with necessary.
- Responsible for final release and completion of a project to the satisfaction of the client for occupancy.
- Possess a solid set of interpersonal skills to assist in managing RCCI trades personnel and consult with customers and subcontractors. Develop and maintain relationships with Riley clients that position the company to earn their next project.
- Participate in the recruitment process of field personnel and possess the ability to anticipate future employment needs based upon the work on hand, work coming up, and number of employees per trade.
- Journeyman Bricklayer duties and responsibilities include:
- Measures distance from reference points and marks guidelines on working surface to lay out work.
- Spreads soft bed (layer) of mortar that serves as base and binder for block.
- Applies mortar to end of block and positions block in mortar bed.
- Taps block with trowel to level, align, and embed in mortar, allowing specified thickness of joint.
- Removes excess mortar from face of block.
- Finishes mortar between brick with pointing tool or trowel.
- Breaks bricks to fit spaces too small for whole brick.
- Determines vertical and horizontal alignment of courses.
- Fastens brick or terra cotta veneer to face of structures, with tie wires embedded in mortar between bricks, or in anchor holes in veneer brick.
- Welds metal parts to steel structural members.
- Applies plaster to walls to complete repair work.
Requirements:
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- 10+ years' field construction experience in supervisory capacity.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
