PRECINCT ONE MISSION

What you will do at Precinct One:
The selected candidate will provide day-to-day logistics support to Precinct One buildings, offices, and facilities at assigned locations according to established schedules. Duties include setup and breakdown of tables and chairs for various reservations and program activities; washing windows, walls, tables, desks, and benches; polish metal work; clean chalk boards; dust and clean furniture and polish woodwork; sweep, scrub, mop, and wax floors; vacuum and shampoo carpeted areas. Clean and sanitize rest rooms; wash sinks, mirrors, and toilets; empty trash receptacles; refill soap, towel, and other dispensers. The selected candidate will be on call as needed.

Requirements

What you will bring to Precinct One

Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
  • One (1) year of relevant experience
Licensure:
  • Valid Driver’s License is required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to lift and move tables and chairs in a safe manner for setup and breakdown of facilities
  • Ability to provide general facility logistics support to constituents during reservations
  • Knowledge of how to operate and maintain general building equipment
  • Knowledge in the methods of modern cleaning, materials and equipment used in custodial work

About the Reservations and Transportation
Reservations and Transportation (RT) is a subdivision of the Shared Services Division. The basic function of RT is to provide access to public services by reserving 20 Park Pavilions, 2 Amphitheaters, 9 community centers, 5 sports fields, and 17 Large Passenger Vehicles (14 buses, 3 vans); and transporting senior citizens and program participants safely to various destinations. Working together, we can build stronger, safer communities where our families, our seniors and our young people are connected to one another and have the resources they need to thrive and succeed.

About Precinct One
There are four precincts in Harris County. The four elected commissioners, along with an elected county judge, serve as members of Harris County Commissioners Court, the administrative head of the county’s government.

With approximately 1.1 million residents, Harris County Precinct One is a diverse, urban precinct that covers 363 square miles. Precinct One’s multi-racial, multi-ethnic population is roughly 39 percent African American, 37 percent Latino, 18 percent Anglo, 5 percent Asian and 1 percent other.

Precinct One, which includes 876 miles of road, stretches south to Brazoria County and reaches into eastern and northern sections of Harris County. The Precinct’s territory includes a large section of Downtown Houston, including the Downtown Harris County Courthouse Complex, Toyota Center, Minute Maid Park and the BBVA Compass Stadium. Other notable landmarks include the 263-acre NRG Park Complex and the renowned Texas Medical Center. The Precinct is also the higher educational home to Houston Community College, Rice University, Texas Southern University, the University of Houston and the University of St. Thomas. Precinct One manages more than 20 parks, 11 community centers, numerous hike-and-bike trails, three maintenance service centers and several area offices, all of which provide an array of services to Precinct One residents.
