Job Title: Spanish Teacher 1.0 FTE Continuing

Work Location: Lakeside High School

Nature and Scope of Job: (1 or 2 sentence summary of position)

The teacher selected for this position will be responsible for 1.0 FTE in Spanish. The teacher

will use effective instructional strategies to help students learn the district-approved curriculum

and maintain a safe and productive classroom.

Classification: Certificated Teacher

Work Day: Monday – Friday; 2023/34 School Year Contracted Days

Begin: 2023/24 School Year

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT AND SALARY:

As outlined by and in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement (CBA) of Nine Mile Falls

Education Association (NMEA) and Policies and Procedures of Nine Mile Falls School District. CBAs

and Salary Schedules can be reviewed from the Human Resources page of the Nine Mile Falls School

The annual base salary range for the position is: Min.$48,000.00 - Max.$92,133.00. Salary placement

will be at Step 0 of the Nine Mile Educators Association Collective Bargaining Agreement unless

documentation of experience is received per the Collective Bargaining Agreement. The Collective

Bargaining Agreement and Salary Schedules can be reviewed from the Human Resources page of the

Each employee shall accumulate twelve (12) days of sick leave per year. An employee employed less

than a full term shall be entitled to a prorated part of the sick leave allowance Each employee shall earn

three (3) annual leave days per year. Employees less than 1.0 FTE will receive a prorated share of

annual leave based on their FTE.

Employees anticipated to work more than 630 hours per year will be eligible for benefits through the

School Employees Benefits Board (SEBB) Standard benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, Life

Insurance, and Long-Term Disability. Positions anticipated to work 70 hours or more per month for at

least 5 months over the school year are eligible for retirement through the State Department of

Retirement Services.

Primary Job Function

1. Teach Spanish language curriculum.
2. Learn together with other teachers to improve teaching and learning.
3. Participate in the Lakeside Professional Learning Community as an active member.

Contract Term: Continuing Replacement Supplemental

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Requirements (Traits, Education, Certifications, Experience, Training, physical requirements, etc.):

1. BA/BS in Education, Washington State Teaching Certificate
2. Endorsement in Spanish.
3. WSP/FBI Clearance

Desired Qualifications

1. Knowledge of and experience using Comprehensivle-Input (CI) or Traching Profeciency
through Reading and Storytelling (TPRS) strategies in the language classroom.

2. Desire to learn with other professional educators to improve teaching and learning.
3. Sound mental, moral, and ethical character.
4. Enjoys working with students and adults.
5. Skill and experience in working with struggling students.
6. Effective classroom management, communication, and problem-solving skills.
7. Second language endorsement is preferred.
8. Knowledge of current and accepted research around second-language acquisition theory.
9. Flexibility to work with a dynamic team of teachers in a department and school.
10. Ability to develop and teach curriculum that is rigorous and relevant.

fingerprint check by the Washington State Patrol and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Any offer of employment is

contingent upon the successful outcome of the criminal history background check and approval by the Nine Mile Falls

School District Board of Directors.
