Reporting directly to the Chief Human Resource Officer, the Legal Recruitment and Professional Development Manager/Coordinator is primarily responsible for the administrative oversight of the firm’s law school recruiting process and the summer associate program. The incumbent also executes various tasks related to attorney professional development, particularly in arranging for the execution of training programs, and assistance with the annual evaluation process.
The level of this position will be determined based upon the candidate’s experience as well as the overall needs of the firm.
Core responsibilities include:
Management and coordination of the firm’s participation in On-Campus Interviewing (“OCI”) events at numerous law schools, including:- Coordinate with career services personnel at targeted law schools for resume submissions and initial interviews with student candidates.
- Ensure relevant data is appropriately populated in the firm’s legal recruitment software.
- Schedule call-back interviews with firm attorneys, ensuring that candidates are matched with attorneys practicing in the students’ areas of interest.
- Follow up with attorney interviewers to ensure their completion of interview feedback in the legal recruitment software program.
- Prepare offer letter and rejection correspondence to appropriate candidates.
- Maintain and consistently update offer statistics at the direction of Chief Human Resource Officer (“CHRO”) and the firm’s Recruiting Committee.
Front-line execution of the firm’s summer associate program, including:- Identify unique summer event opportunities for presentation and approval by the CHRO and the Recruiting Committee.
- Prepare for summer associate arrival by meeting with various business departments to secure appropriate office space, equipment, supplies, etc.
- In consultation with the CHRO, prepare the summer associate orientation program.
- Coordinate activity planning and execution with various venues and outside vendors; attend events, as appropriate, to ensure flawless execution.
- Assist CHRO in gathering summer associate assignments from the firm’s various practice groups.
- Assist CHRO in assigning work to summer associates, monitoring deadlines, and gathering feedback from assigning attorneys.
- Organize and prepare substantive feedback materials for Recruiting Committee consideration at mid-summer review and end-of-summer offer process.
Assist CHRO in various attorney professional development initiatives, including:- In response to attorney professional development needs, research and source various in-house CLE course offerings.
- Coordinate with CHRO to ensure associates are meeting their experience-based competency expectations.
- Assist CHRO in seeking partner feedback on associate and counsel performance in connection with the annual evaluation process; assist in drafting evaluation material as needed.
Other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Human Resources department, which may include:- Recruiting professional staff candidates.
- Working with other HR personnel to ensure compliance with document/file retention requirements for all firm employment candidates.
- Coordinating professional development opportunities for professional staff employees.
Qualifications:
Two to five years of recruiting and professional development experience in a professional services field; strong preference for law firm experience, particularly in the Delaware legal market- Experience with cloud-based recruiting software
- Demonstrated experience in event coordination
- Excellent oral/written communication skills
- Detail-oriented; excellent organizational skills
- Ability to juggle multiple competing priorities with the utmost professionalism
- Willingness and ability to work non-traditional hours, particularly during the summer associate program
- Degree in relevant field preferred, but equivalent experience considered
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
