Salary Range: $43,764 - $62,772

POSITION SUMMARY:
Works with the Principal in carrying out the school’s guidance and counseling program, which is based on the American School Counseling Association model. As a professional educator with a mental health perspective, the counselor understands and responds to the needs of a diverse student population. The counselor provides proactive leadership to engage all stakeholders in the delivery of programs and services to support the students’ social emotional development, academic achievement and career preparation. The school counselor may be assigned at the elementary, middle, or high school level.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Successful completion of a degree in school counseling and valid TSPC certification as a school counselor.
- Ability to perform the essential functions with the physical, mental and emotional requirements, with or without accommodations.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in performing assigned tasks.
- Ability to collect and summarize data clearly and concisely in written form.
- Working knowledge of various related services and agencies.
- Ability to work harmoniously with others and to communicate effectively (both orally and in writing) with students, parents and staff.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board and Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.
