Human Resources Generalist – KS and Iowa Markets
Hours: Core business hours, Monday – Friday
FLSA Classification: Exempt
Reports to: Director of Human Resources

POSITION OVERVIEW
The HR Generalist – KS & IA position is responsible for providing HR support for New Horizon Academy schools in Kansas and Iowa. Core accountabilities include: talent acquisition, onboarding, talent development (including promoting and tracking of continuing education pathways), performance management, and employee relations. This position acts as the first point of contact in Kansas and Iowa for employee questions/inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and other HR related matters. In addition to being a part of the Home Office HR team, this position also functions as a member of the district leadership team, and works closely with NHA’s Operations leaders such as the Regional Manager, Area Directors, and Regional VP – Multistate.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Recruit, evaluate, and coordinate the hiring of qualified candidates for NHA schools in Kansas and Iowa.
- Work with the Talent Acquisition team and Marketing team to promote openings within appropriate geographic locations and communities.
- Stay up to date on state educational and licensing requirements for early childhood education employees.
- Manage onboarding for new Kansas and Iowa employees to ensure a consistent, meaningful and inclusive onboarding experience.
- Provide HR support in the areas of performance management and employee relations while partnering with school and regional leadership.
- Conduct school visits regularly and as needed to evaluate morale, problem-solve, and support the strengthening of school teams.
- Recruit for and manage the Substitute Teacher Networks for Kansas and Iowa schools.
- Assist with the annual performance review process for Kansas and Iowa employees.
- Manage (actively promote and track) educational programs that support continuous learning of our teaching staff, including:
- Child Development Associate (CDA) program participation;
- Connecting with local colleges offering AAs and BAs in early childhood education;
- Tuition reimbursement opportunities;
- Educational cohorts;
- Scholarship opportunities;
- ABCs of ECE;
- Various state-funded programs (i.e. T.E.A.C.H and REETAIN);
- Developing new programs that support the recruitment, retention, growth, and development of employees.
- Actively participate in all HR team meetings, projects, and initiatives.
- Represent and promote NHA at colleges, communities, and career fairs as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management or related field (or equivalent experience).
- A minimum of 3 years of experience as an HRBP or HR Generalist.
- Proven ability to build and maintain productive business relationships.
- Strong business acumen.
- Highly detailed and organized.
- Solid working knowledge of talent acquisition, talent development and employee relations.
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.
- Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Must be adaptable to various competing priorities.
- Highly detailed and organized.
- A self-starter and take the initiative to improve processes.
- Must live in Kansas or Iowa. Travel will be required between Kansas and Iowa.
- Experience in the childcare industry preferred.
